Since the casting rumors on Wasp began during the production of Iron Man 2, Olivia Munn was the first person rumored to play Janet Van Dyne (the first Wasp in the Marvel comics) who was instead cast as a news reporter in that film. Next was one of Joss Whedon's people Morena Baccarin who addressed the rumors that she was more than happy to play the character in the Avengers film but even though Wasp was shown in the screenplay animation, Feige and Marvel Studios denied the character's appearance and involvement. After that, Stephanie Szostak was seen in Iron Man 3 and because of her hair style in the film she was rumored solidly to play Wasp but that eventually ended up debunked when her character's name was revealed as Ellen Brandt. Then during last fall in 2013, Rashida Jones was rumored to play the lead female role in the Ant Man film with one of her most frequent co-stars from other past films, Paul Rudd. But now with former Lost actress Evangeline Lilly confirmed and yet to be playing the female lead in the movie, Rashida's chances have now expired.
Now for some of you who aren't that familiar with Evangeline Lilly, I'll be glad to fill you in on all the popular details about her that makes her interesting for the role. Evangeline Lilly wasn't always known just for her role as one of the main characters in the Golden Globe winning TV series Lost, after the long running series ended, she appeared with Hugh Jackman in the movie Real Steel and recently played Tauriel, the lead female character in The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug and because of her performance in the dragon movie, Lilly turns out to be just the right for the role of the Ant Man film's lead female character.
Now since Michael Douglas has been cast as Hank Pym, some of don't think that she's playing Wasp because Douglas is 69 years old that some of you think that she is playing Spider-Woman or Ms. Marvel as Scott Lang's love interest, but apparently it is the Wasp Janet van Dyne she will be playing. Haven't many of you guys read some of the past news blogs on the net that some changes on some of the characters were gonna be done like Jane Foster being changed from a nurse to an astrophysicist? And did anyone not notice that he is making changes to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, and to Tony Stark being Ultron's creator instead of Hank Pym, and let's not forget the horrible setback and betrayal that Kevin Feige and Jon Favreau have done in Iron Man 3 last year and 3 years before then when they allowed director Shane to rip us off with Extremis powered Aldrich Killian instead of giving us the villain with the ten magic rings over garbage load of bullcrap that blinded them into believing that ditching the chinese ethnicity wasn't enough for them to get by with which was the worst example they ever made.
Anyway the point is Lilly's character doesn't need to be anyone else and it can be the Wasp Janet van Dyne. Just rework the full name of the character to Janet Pym and switch her from being the wife of Hank Pym to being the daughter of Hank Pym and switch her boyfriend to Scott Lang. I mean come on, there is nothing wrong about redirecting a specific character's love interest onto someone else because it's best for Wasp to appear as the character for Evangeline to play in the film instead of leaving her out because there have been reports that if Lilly does do the part, she will also appear in more films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, maybe even the forthcoming Iron Man 4 as a sidekick to Tony Stark helping him on his James Bond like mission to stop the bad guys, maybe and hopefully even the real Mandarin and the Ten Rings terrorist organization as well.
Now moving onto the Vision. With Paul Bettany who voices JARVIS in previous films having been officially as the Vision, it leads directly to one thing; JARVIS becomes the Vision! Now recently it was recently stated that the Vision would not appear in the Avengers Age of Ultron but whatever reason there was for Vision to be ironically confirmed just now was either his denial in the film was a hoax or that Marvel has had a recent change of heart. Still Paul Bettany is a very good choice for Vision because of how soft his voice is it makes him a perfect for the role of the character.
Now for how Vision will work in the film depends on how Whedon will have Bettany's character depicted and done in motion and even though this confirmation denies Clark Gregg's resuscitation as Agent Coulsen, it's pretty much for the best. So for now we wait and see what comees up eventually on the two of them.
