According to Variety, Evangeline Lilly has just entered early negotiations with Marvel Studios to nab the lead female role in the forthcoming Ant-Man. Although Janet Van Dyne, aka The Wasp, would be the first character to come to mind, who the Canadian actress is actually playing is unknown. However, insiders claim "she would play Hank Pym’s daughter and Scott Lang’s love interest."
The Hollywood Reporter adds that Lilly's role "is not intended to be a one-off appearance," which means should could end up in Ant-Man sequels or even other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anyhow, best known for roles in Lost, Real Steel, and The Hurt Locker, Evangeline Lilly most recently starred in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and will reprise her Elven guard role this year in the sequel, The Hobbit: There and Back Again. If talks move forward, she would join Paul Rudd, Michael Pena and Michael Dougles. And Ant-Man is directed by Edgar Wright from his screenplay, which he co-wrote with Joe Cornish, and will open on July 17, 2015. What do you think?
