Fans are still buzzing (or fuming, in some cases) after the announcement of Chapter 1 of the DCU slate earlier today, and we also got some clarification on the current status of the "Snyderverse Era" actors and whether they will have any part to play in the future of this shared film and TV world.
It seems like the door is still open for the likes of Gal Gadot, Zachary Levi and Ezra Miller (believe it or not) to reprise their respective roles down the line, but, short of any future Elseworlds projects featuring his take on the character, Henry Cavill is out as Superman.
As for Jason Momoa, it sounds like he will indeed be staying put as Aquaman, and a third movie may already be in the planning stages.
Though nothing was officially confirmed, Peter Safran did drop a telling hint when asked whether Momoa would be sticking around as Arthur Curry: “Jason always saw Aquaman as a trilogy.”
The Game of Thrones alum has been expressing his excitement about taking on a new role in the DCU via social media, and there were trade reports that he may also be in line to play Lobo. All James Gunn would offer was: “I will say we won’t have an actor playing two different roles."
Okay... yeah, we're still very confused!
This could be something Gunn and Safran aren't quite ready to elaborate on, so hopefully we'll have a better idea of what to expect after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters. Gunn did say that James Wan's sequel would "lead directly" into the new DCU slate, so perhaps there will be more connectivity than we realized?
