Yesterday brought us the first theatrical poster for James Wan's Aquaman, and now we have an awesome new SDCC magazine cover courtesy of Den of Geek which provides a first glimpse of several major characters.

We have already seen Patrick Wilson's Orm, a.k.a. Ocean Master, without his helmet, but here he is sporting his very comic-accurate armor for the first time. We also see Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen in his Black Manta garb, and the ferocious creatures known as The Trench.

The cover art was inspired by an illustration from DC Comics artists Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, and Marcelo Maiolo.

“The inspiration behind this original work was those classic comic book covers that gave the reader a look at the characters involved in the story and also hints of, and a feel for, their worlds,” the DC film's producer Peter Safran reveals. “It was commissioned by James Wan in the very early R and D stages of pre-production, as he was beginning to define the worlds in which our film would live. It was not originally intended to be a one sheet, but we all loved it so much that we had the idea to transform it into a photorealistic version and use it as a poster.”

And what a poster it makes! If this doesn't get you hyped for the first Aquaman trailer this Saturday, nothing will.

Looks cool, I just really want to see aquamans classic suit,

I saw a model so I know its in there, wonder why they aren't showing it off.

you don't have superman without his blue tights. why show aquaman without his signature look?

I mean im critical of marvel and DC because I expect total comic accuracy, because by now theres no excuse besides ego.

@ALegendaryPanda - I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes the cover for the Blu-ray, like the Entertainment Weekly cover for "Batman v Superman" became the cover for the Ultimate Edition.

I am admittedly not a huge DC fan, but admit that these characters look great. Is it just me (and maybe it is) but does Aquaman in leather pants just look wrong on this poster? I mean everything else is so "out there" and imaginative, but there is Aquaman in biker pants. Not saying the movie wont be good, but wish he had his costume in this picture.
