1. “Crapping on the Comics”

In the MCU there are a lot of character changes. Just like every comic book movie. Some of the biggest are probably Whiplash/dynamo (whichever he was) From Iron man 2, bucky barnes in Captain America, or maybe adrian killian as the Mandarin. Now why are these changes made? Well the answer boils down to the fact that they think it is easier, and they will make more money. Take Bucky, instead of having a young boy killing Nazis, they made him an old friend of captain America, who used to look out for him as teenagers. That fits a lot more in my opinion. Even if we wanted him to adorn his outfit, sometimes its better to take a different route. For the Mandarin, he doesn’t look to different form the newer versions of the character. A successful business man, younger, of course without the ten rings were he gets the most hate. Now this argument will never end, but looking at the mandarin, the way the character was made will not hurt the MCU at all moving forward. The mandarin isn’t a big enough character to pop up with other heroes, so we don’t really need to worry about 1 villain being ruined. In fact the extremes has given us a story in the Agents of Shield TV show now. Which brings us to our second point.

2. No TV potential

Agents of Shield has opened the door to the TV universe. Or has it closed it? Let’s look at the show. At the start we can all agree that it wasn’t the best. Cheesy, not dark, no comic book characters. But lets look at the last few episodes. We have seen graviton created, 2 more comic book villains (even if scarce), the continue of the extremes story, and almost no humor in the last episode. We even saw a dark episode, a girl was incinerated, and they injected the villain causing him to explode. So now what do we want from the show? Looks like the final issue and real issue is that we don’t have comic book heroes on the show. People aren’t enjoying no Hulk, Iron Man, which we can’t expect them to ever show up. But it looks as is making a superhero show, not with superheroes is not the route to go. So in a way I think this show has opened it up very well because it is going to show at least for 1 season some interesting characters, and also will show us if we want TV shows (Which clearly Marvel is looking to make 1-3 a year) we will need heroes. So it opens up Heroes for Hire, Moon Knight, Punisher, the list goes on. Cut back on the humor (which they have recently) and the show gets a tad better, and opens doors. Which brings us to the third point.

3. Humor

Now we can all agree we don’t need EVERY SINGLE movie to be a dark knight darkness to it. We all want a little bit of humor. Now look at the Avengers, everyone praised the well placed and fantastic bits of humor. It was exactly the humor we needed that showed how the team interacts. Now look at AoS, IM3, and apparently Thor: TDW. We saw a little bit too much humor at the wrong times. Now, is there anything wrong with it? No. But everyone can agree that every once in a while we want to see a dark gritty movie. Perhaps a Hulk film? We also want a tad less humor going forward. Now I love to laugh, and I think that marvel should keep its mold. But I feel as if they need every movie to be that first Iron Man tone, with some laughs, but not too much like they did in Iron Man 2-3.

4. Where are the Avengers?

This one will never stop. The question of where is Avenger A during Avenger B’s movie? Well look at it this way. A) all the Avengers could already be in a fight. B) the Avengers think he can handle it. C) the Avenger in his movie goes off the grid. Like in Iron Man 3, really there wasn’t a lot of opening for SHIELD to help Iron Man because there just simply wasn’t enough time. SHIELD doesn’t have to worry about if there is a terrorist because that’s America’s issue, not SHIELD. SHIELD fights the battles we can’t. America can fight against a Terrorist. That’s just one example. But think about it, eventually in the next however many movies. We will have just simply to many heroes to explain why EVERY SINGLE ONE of them couldn’t help out each other? We would almost need an extra movie just to say why everyone can’t help. It’s almost a “Go with the flow” sort of thing and realize the pros of a shared universe out way the Cons.

Well there we have it. Just the issues with the universe. Some of them are directly with the way they make the movies. Some of them are just what will happen when we get a shared universe. But lets be happy we have a universe that corresponds from Movies, to TV, to Comics, all in lots of different franchises.

@MOR There was almost no humor in it as well. Also he burned that girl down to the gorund which was kinda grusom. I think that episode was more to set up Raina. Hence the shortness of scorch.

I understand that Shield is global and has a lot going on but even forgetting about the president, wouldn't they want to protect Tony?

The guy did just save the world for them.

@Jaysin420 yeah but they didn't really know if he was in trouble until the missel hit. At that point they didn't have the time to get to him. I think its a good enough excuse.

@ciph yeah pretty much figured it out. I love the humor, but all I can say is I hope that they do at least a little more gritty in the future. Not every film, but just for some diversity.

I think they overuse humour, IM3 was a downright parody of TDKR and Thor TDW looks to be a comedy movie too.

IM3 was quite a big off from TDKR, but I can agree partially.

You are right the Mandarin issue is not a big deal, and that is why Marvel studios are secretly working with the carácter now to fix their mess right?? :S (sarcasm)

@kenjim True, I just meant it doesn't hurt the universe as a whole. Does it hurt the individual movie? Yeah but after this one, really who cares. Its one movie out of 15.

I don't really have a problem with #1 because of an age difference but when you hype a great comic villian up then find out he or she is something totally different from the comic then thats the issue.

Number 2 is all Disneys doing trying to spread the cinematic universe to television for money.

My problem with number 3 is humor kill ruin a comic book movie point blank period. I feel like humor should only apply to the characters that uses it ie Tony, Spider-Man, etc. but when you have someone like serious characters like Blade or Dr.Doom it takes away their seriousness.

The issue with number 4 is when the Avengers was being released Kevin has said that the MCU films were just like the comics and most of the things are out of order. Now with CA:TWS taking place two years after the Avengers and apparently 1 year and 1/2 after Iron man 3 there should be references to that film on way shield wasnt there. Unless they came in after the movie was over then i buy it. But we'll probably get other timeline for this phase.

Good article. I hardly ever enjoy walls of text but this was a good one. Maybe another issue is that SHield is everywhere

I've concluded this crime was committed by Siberian separatists seeking to create political unrest.

Run away!!!!!!

These "issues" need to get a life.
