Having worked with Marvel Studios on pretty much all of their big screen adaptations (primarily on the character of Iron Man) artist Adi Granov knows his stuff, and dropped a few teases about what we will and more than likely won't see in upcoming movies such as The Avengers and Iron Man 3. The following is just a few excerpts from the interview conducted by our friends over at Bad Taste Blog, but you can read the whole thing by clicking on the link below.

On The Overwhelming Fan Desire To See The "Hulkbutser" Armor On The Big Screen:

I know. I see it: in the first movie was Iron Monger, and the idea for that came from Hulkbuster. I did a cover with Hulkbuster. A Jon Favreau really liked, and asked me to design something similar to Iron Monger. So technically it is the Iron Monger Hulkbuster, and I think that for this reason that for a while 'time did not see in the movies.

On The Iron Man 2 "Fing Fang Foom" Cameo And Whether We'll See The Villain Again:

Well, Fing Fang Foom is an old villain of Iron Man Director Jon Favreau and I were doing a comic together and Fing Fang Foom was the villain. So I designed, and Jon asked me if I could also designed a poster to be included in the film. It 'was the reason. A kind of wink to the fact that we had been working in comics. Fing Fang Foom I think it's a little...is a character who works in the comics, but I do not think that the general public understand that sees the Marvel movie...I think they would feel ridiculous.

On Whether He Can Reveal Anything About The Avengers And Iron Man 3:

The problem is that I do not know really what to show and what has already been revealed by Marvel. For example, I created an illustration for the film we see the Avengers for the first time the group together all of the Avengers. I met a friend a few weeks ago that had that picture as your desktop, and it upset me: I asked him where he came from, because I did not know that Marvel had published it. A few weeks before on the internet showed a trailer that had the illustration, and I did not even know that there would be. Someone had made a screenshot, and the image was everywhere. I can not keep me updated with all this information.

On Whether The Mysterious Motion Capture Villains Will Indeed Be The Skrulls:

Actually I know very well who will be the villain in the movie, but I can neither confirm nor talk about it! [Laughs]

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

RELEASE DATE: May 4th, 2012. (US)

Well, if they can work out a story for Fing Fang Foom, then they can properly introduce him into one of the Marvel films, then go for it, Marvel! Awesome story + great special fx/cgi = Fing Fang Foom. It may not be that easy, but I'm sure that they'll find a way to do it.

And as for the Hulkbuster armor, please make it come true, Marvel! I hope, hope, that they will feature this armor in The Avengers, or at least give us like a little cameo. If not, then maybe in the second Avengers or maybe Iron-Man 3. Here's to hoping.

@Destroyer14 - Agree. That is a horrible excuse to introduce an awesome character like Fing Fang Foom. If they want to introduce Fing Fang Foom, then do so. Just stick close to the source material, give us an amazing cgi Fing Fang Foom, then there you have it. If they do that, then it's a garuantee that they'll succeed in introducing Fing Fang Foom to the big screen.

I think it's more to do with general audiences thinking "what the f*ck? Why is there a giant dragon in this?"

Huh, never thought of Iron-Monger to be a homage to the Hulkbuster armor. Now that I think of it, the Hulkbuster will be one hell of a powerful armor.

hulk is iron man's partner in avengers and I doubt hulk will show up in IM3 so what's the point of a hulk buster outfit??

Never heard of this "Fing Fang Foom." I am a fan of Marvel's giant talking dragon FIN Fang Foom, though. I just wish that was the only grammatical error in this cluster-f of an article.

Thor killed a giant monster dragon thing. Why can't Iron Man?
ComicbookPhysicist
ComicbookPhysicist - 11/15/2011, 10:51 AM
You could put the Hulkbuster on screen fairly easily by making it from Iron Monger like the Mark III was made from the Mark III: titanium-gold alloy, recolour and other slight modifications. It could even be meant as an add-on module for the current armor, with the extra safety of a dual-layer armour and the possibility of discarding the outer layer in a battle to reveal "regular" Iron Man underneath. Having a scene where Stark pulls out the old blueprints for the Iron Monger to make a Hulkbuster would make very much sense, considering the actual size and power of Stane's armour and the possible threat of the Hulk.

Derp. I meant "made from the Mark II".
Paulley
Paulley - 11/15/2011, 11:03 AM
I always guessed the Iron Monger suit was basically the Hulkbuster armor... i kind of assumed that they would incorporate it part of the films by saying Stark redesigned Stane's armor into something he could use against the Hulk

@ComicbookPhysicist - Dude, that's an awesome story on how they can introduce the Hulkbuster armor. Instead of it being an actual armor, like you said, it can be an add-on module for a current armor. A little few adjustments here and there, and there you go. Love that idea, man. :)

"Hulkbuster".

im so sick of that lame excuse "the general public wont get it" that there freakn job to bring our stories and the marvel universe to the screen. they focus waaay to much on the business aspect of it watering down all of the characters to the point where they're showing the same story virtually every time.Marvel have some balls and write an expansive story with fantasy elements thats good it will appeal to all (matrix...avatar...star wars etc.) i am getting a bit tired of these movies that dont go anywhere there basically all origin stories because the studios are afraid to kick it up a notch. I really hope avengers gets them out of there rut.

bzzz wrong Chuckg313.
It's thee job to make movies that make money.

I agree about them and Fin-Fang-Foom it's a silly concept.
a concept that would just seem out of place without a lot of alteration.

Movies are not comics
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 11/15/2011, 12:46 PM
@chuckg313 I agree. They need to move from the template formula and start utilizing the originality and uniqueness of the MARVEL universe. The films are far from their true potential and I believe if they stay with the standard execution, they run the risk of burning audiences out on CBMs in general.

Avengers has to be the best MARVEL studios movie. None of it's predecessors should outshine it.
chuckg313
chuckg313 - 11/15/2011, 1:41 PM
Geeksiah..I think not the movies i named dwarf marvel in the money making department and while i realize not all marvel franchises can go in such a lofty direction they need to grow sum balls and throw us a bone.Ive been reading marvel for over 25years and the movies are starting to bore me and the other non fans that i watch with too....tell me me you can remember an iron man villian? but darth vader, agent smith, and the actors that played them are legends and made cash for decades....too much of the same from marvel good job so far but time to grow up.

"...is a character who works in the comics, but I do not think that the general public understands."

HOLY SHIT that has got to be the oldest excuse on the planet from people working on CBMs. If FFF makes an appearance in a future movie (which would be awesome) he wont be wearing purple undies!!!
@chuckg, gotta agree with you man. I love these movies, but I hope after the Avengers, they really need to start pushing the envelope with sci-fi/fantasy stuff. We saw Asgard already, so whats the big deal?

NightForce
NightForce - 11/15/2011, 1:56 PM
Oh and stop involving the government in everything Marvel! That was one of the things that annoyed me the most about IM2. In comics, superheroes do their shit and no one cares.
NightForce
NightForce - 11/15/2011, 1:57 PM
@FatherMidnight, Yeah all the aliens were in the movie a grand total of 3 1/2 minutes. Plus what threat would be bigger?
