Marvels The Avengers was composed by Alan Silvestri (Predator, Back to the Future) back in 2012, but Marvel has hired Brian Tyler (Fast Five, The Expendables 2), who composed previous Marvel films such as Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, to score Avengers: Age of Ultron.
This comes to no surprise after being rumored for several months to be attached to score Marvels 11th Installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers: Age of Ultron is Written and Directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders and Don Cheadle. Alongside newly cast members James Spader who will be portraying Ultron, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as the Vision and Thomas Kretschmann as Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker. Marvels Avengers: Age of Ultron is scheduled to be released on May 1st 2015 IN 2D and IMAX.

I guess we can expect a forgettable weak score. Bad call Marvel. Silvestri score was fantastic! Better keep his theme.

I see this as a good thing, as long as he keeps the Avengers main theme.

Great. His IM3 score was better than most of the MCU's scores. The one for The Dark World not so much, but he was brought late to that film, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Bah. I hope it's a better score than IM3 and Thor 2.

Will Smith for composer.

He's good, but I'd prefer someone else. Is a little variety too much to ask for?

"Dam what was wrong with Alan Silvestri!? That was a perfect score for that movie!"

Probably nothing wrong with him. Maybe this guy is cheaper, or maybe Silvestri is all booked up. BUT...maybe this new score will be the perfect one for THIS movie.

"I see this as a good thing, as long as he keeps the Avengers main theme."

Well, I'd be shocked if they use that main theme again. It may be a rights issue, but mostly...it's EXTREMELY rare that a new guy scoring a sequel ever uses anything from the first score.

@ruadh I think it's quite possible he will. Remember that Brian Tyler used Alan Silvestri's Captain America march when Chris Evans had his cameo in T:TDW.

Marvel needs to find a Hans Zimmer caliber guy for their soudntracks, all their movies have meh soundtracks minus a couple of exceptions.

i think the marvel studios score go well with the film mostly with a few exceptions such asi listen to "Can u Dig it" from the iron man 3 credits and the iron man theme from im3 and lokis theme in thor 2 ,both composed by Biran tyler,i really liked im3 and thor 2 score

Not sure how I feel about this... I liked his scores for IM3 and Thor 2 despite not liking those movies so much. Idk all I know is his non-Marvel work is far better than his work for Marvel.

It would be awkward if Henry Jackman replaced Alan Silvestri again that would be the third sequel where he did that lol.

(I know I'm not and never will...lol) but if I had the chance to orchestrate the theme for the first avenger's film I would've added a different theme for each of the characters within the same theme. You know how songs transition from one vibe to another. There should've been some pakistanian drums for hulk, viking like choirs for Thor, patriotic snare drums and base drums for cap and some digital retweeking for iron man. That's just my little add on.

@Nitpicker

The credit song for both IM3 and Thor: TDW were better. And I like the Avengers credit song.

WHY?!?!?

YeezusWept - 3/21/2014, 11:55 AM
The music during the Black Widow / Hawkeye fight was so generic and cheesy. But the main theme is really great. Other than that, I can't remember anything worth saving from Silvestri's score.

@MrSidTheOnlySloth: Nickelback is my favorite band so, I would love for them to contribute another song to another Marvel movie. Learn the Hard Way from DareDevil, Slow Motion from The Punisher and (well, it was Chad Kroeger with Josey Scott but still) Hero from Spider-Man. Especially for something like Captain America or The Avengers.

Maybe even Skillet
