Check Out Some Early AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Concept Art For 'Ultron Mark 1'

Over the past few days we’ve seen some early concept art for Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Ultron’s final form, and many of the Avengers members. Now, Marvel Studios conceptual artist Andy Park, revealed some early concept designs for Ultron’s first form! Hit the jump to check it out!

When Ultron was born he took the form of a broke down version of one of Stark’s Iron Legion armors. That form was called, Ultron Mark 1. I’m sure you all remember how that looked (the image above). But, believe it or not, that design wasn’t always the final version! Andy Park (the man who does Marvel’s concept art) revealed some early designs for Ultron’s first form and said that “It was fun to paint up what essentially looks like a hobbled together creepy Iron Man with the classic Ultron look." Check out the images below!

Would you have liked to see one of those onscreen? Sound off below with your thoughts!

TheMadman- the concept art is almost always better that what we get in the film for some strange reason. the only marvel film were ive seen the concept art book and i think they choose the best design for the film was the winter soldier

That's pretty awesome. The first one is my favourite. I did love what we got in the movie though.

Today is a great Marvel day. Cool concepts, SHIELD and Agent Carter are renewed, and it's Friday. I ain't even mad about being at work today.

Great find @NightWatcher!

This scene in the trailer sold me that Ultron will be the most badass villain ever, but then I saw the movie.

Just back from my second viewing. My initial problems with Ultrons facial design got bigger, if anything. Really think the whole "lips, teeth, eyebrows" approach didn't do the character any favours. :(

The original concept art they did for you was pretty spot on!

It has some examples of bad writing and editing. The whole reason they created Ultron to begin with was silly.

I enjoyed the movie though.

@Greengo

I sort of agree with what you are saying. To me the concept was great, the problem with the movie that there was so many things being introduced and rushed so quickly that it did not translate well.

I think that is the problem with so many characters in a movie. And yeah people will point out LOTR has a lot of characters but those movies are three hours long. It is very hard to do this in a 2 hour to 2.5 hour movie.

@JoeMomma29: Yeah I agree. And they didn't even need to create Ultron they already had Jarvis lol.

@SoulofWakanda

I actually like James Spader voicing Ultron, but he did not come off as menacing as a robot should.

Remember the first time you watched Terminator and when the Robot was revealed you got shivers or felt some sort of fear of a living Robot....... well that is what I was hoping for with Ultron.

To me he was too human than machine, and I attribute that to his looks and his moving mouth.......

I know of an a.i. who was more menacing than Ultron.

Haha! I know, right? Lameass got his ass handed to him by Iron Man, Cap, Vision, Hulk, and Wanda.

Indeed, Loltron wasn't menacing for a second. And btw HULK never fought Loltron.
BlackPhillip

@AbhiShake

Hulk owned him twice. The first time occurred after Iron Man, Vision, And Thor did their team, Hulk punched him into the sky. The second time was when Hulk jumped into the quinjet and Ultron said, "For God's sakes" and was thrown out.

The cobbled together look was the worst idea ever. They really destroyed Ultron with this film.
AbhiShake

I know but they never fought fully like Hulk vs Hulkbuster. He would have crushed him single handedly and muted that joking piece of tin.

I think Whedon should have taken notes on Megatron from the first Transformers movie. He was kicking all of the Autobots' asses by himself. Sure, his death was lame, but he was a one 'bot wrecking crew. If it wasn't for the macguffin, Megatron would have won.

I like how they made Ultron more human. It made him feel like an actual character, instead of a stereotypical, cliched, destroy-the-world plot device. I can't believe people wanted the played-out "Evil AI robot with no emotions/conscience who never makes mistakes and is fully superior to humanity in every single way".

That shit's boring, IMO.
AbhiShake
AbhiShake - 5/8/2015, 10:57 AM
@Ramiel

It wasn't about his physical strength or his army of bots. Ultron should have been intellectually intimidating.

Its not that he had to be completely cold and calculating, its just it would of helped if he wasn't so human like. I felt like, I knew his plas before he even revealed them, because I could see his expressions.
