It's been a long time coming, but Square Enix has finally announced that Spider-Man is being added to Marvel's Avengers on November 30...providing you own a PlayStation, of course.
This news comes on the back of headlines about the publisher admitting they were disappointed with how the game performed. The wall-crawler will be added in Patch 2.2, though a first look at this take on the iconic superhero has yet to be revealed (we're sure a trailer is imminent).
What we do know is that Spider-Man will debut as part of the "With Great Power" Hero Event.

"You’ll experience Spider-Man’s story through unlockable challenges woven throughout the Avengers Initiative," reads the official description teasing big plans for Spidey in this world. "Here’s a quick taste of his journey in Marvel’s Avengers! Peter Parker uncovers AIM’s new plan to acquire technology that could make their Synthoid army unstoppable and total domination inevitable. He must partner with the Avengers to stop this looming threat, and forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow while keeping his identity hidden."
"As a Hero accustomed to working solo, he struggles with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?"
Spider-Man being added to Marvel's Avengers has been one of the most highly anticipated post-release launches from the second his involvement was rumoured. Hopefully, this latest DLC doesn't disappoint, because that really would be the final nail in the divisive game's proverbial coffin.
