Predicting the plot of Infinity War based on the trailers

Here i try to predict the entire plot of Avengers: Infinity War basing myself on the trailers, leaked footage, leaked images and the d23 trailer.

So the long-awaited trailer for Avengers: Infinity War just dropped. We don’t know much about the plot but taking into account the SDCC trailer and the leaked footage from this week, i believe we can put some pieces together. It’s time to speculate!
<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6ZfuNTqbHE8" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok. Also, the leaked footage showed a scene featuring the Guardians, the Collector, and Thanos. I must say its content may be considered minor spoilers.

First of all, from the trailers we can see that the power and space stones are confirmed to appear given that they are on his gauntlet. The mind stone and time stone will also appear (given that vision and doctor strange, respectively, will appear), and the reality stone will at least get mentioned (given the leaked footage). So in short, he has to go to these places:
Power Stone – Xandar
Tesseract – Loki (Thor’s ship)
Mind Stone – Vision (earth)
Time Stone – Doctor Strange (earth)
Reality Stone – Collector (Knowhere)
Soul Stone – Wakanda (earth)

We don’t know exactly where the Soul Stone is, but my theory is that the soul stone is in Wakanda. This is because in the trailers for his movie, T’Challa is shown to be in contact with his ancestors in the Nekropoli.

Marvel Studios usually keeps things cohesive an not so convoluted like the comics, so it makes sense that they would explain his contact with the hereafter by the use of the soul stone. It also makes sense because in the trailers we can see an alien attack in Wakanda.

Having established that, lets get to the plot:
Ii think we will first see Thanos get the power stone from Xandar. It makes sense that this takes place early because in the trailer we see that when he places the space stone in his gauntlet, he already has the power stone.

Now lets integrate the leaked footage: It would make sense that Xandar calls for the help of the Guardians to fight Thanos. They decide to visit the Collector, who seemed to know much about the infinity stones last time they visited him.

Infinity Stones and the Collector

When they arrive in Knowhere, they find Thanos has arrived first. From the leaked footage:
Thanos to the Collector: “The Reality stone. now.”
The Collector: “I told you, I sold it. Why would I lie?”
Thanos: “I imagine it’s like breathing for you.”
The Collector: “Like suicide.”
Thanos: “So you do understand. Not even you would surrender something so precious.”
The Collector: “I didn’t know what it was.”
Thanos: “Then you’re more of a fool than I took you for. Last chance, charlatan. Where’s the stone?”

I don’t know if the Collector’s lying or if he genuinely doesn’t know where the stone is, but i don’t think Thanos will get the reality stone just yet. Based on the set pictures, it appears as if, in Avengers 4, reality is going to be severely altered, so i wouldn’t be surprised if he gets the reality stone at the end of Infinity War and uses it in the beggining of Avengers 4.
From the leaked footage:
Drax to the Guardians: “Today, he pays for the deaths of my wife and daughter.”
Star-Lord: “Wait, wait, wait. Drax, wait!” Drax withdraws his knife.
Star-Lord: “Woah, woah, woah, not yet! Not yet! Drax!”
Gamora: “Drax!” Drax enters the main room with Thanos and The Collector as the Guardians follow.
Thanos fights the Guardians and flies away. They follow him.

In Ragnarok, when Loki summons Surtur with the eternal flame inside Odin’s vault, he stops at the Tesseract for a moment. It’s never shown wether or not he takes it, but from the trailer, we now know he did. If you stayed until the end of the credits, you’ll know that Thor and Loki are confronted by an enormous ship, this being Thanos’ Sanctuary II. Thanos (we now get into speculation territory) will massacre and destroy the entire ship and get the Tesseract from Loki.

Not only that, but to establish him as a legitimate threat, we will see the murdering of fan favourites Korg and Miek.
“We have plans for Korg and Miek. When and where we’ll have to wait and see” – Kevin Feige
We are going to see the ship in the film so i think we can pretty sure that the duo will return here. I believe that Feige didn’t want to give much information on where and when we would see them (followed by Waititi’s comment on a possible one-shot) because they want their death in Infinity War to come as a surprise.

thor: ragnarok Korg and Miek

Not only that, but i think he will kill Loki here aswell. Remembers The Other’s words:
“If you fail [...], there will be no realm [...] where he can’t find you.” That, or Thanos will turn Loki into Corvus Glaive or Ebony Maw.

In the trailer, we see Banner on earth, so he gets there somehow. My theory is that Thor will send him in some sort of shuttle and he crashes in Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum (as a nod to Silver Surfer's role in the comics storyarc).

On the other hand, Thor is defeated and he's left floating around space. The guardians find him. He tells them about Thanos collecting the Tesseract. They must work together to stop him!

Meanwhile, on earth, we can asume that there are virtually no Avengers. The only active members who signed the Sokovia Accords in Civil War are Iron Man, Vision and War Machine, and the latter is of no much use. From the post-credit scene of Civil War, we can asume that Steve Rogers and his “Secret Avengers” have been staying in Wakanda.

Vision and Wanda have been secretly seeing each other in secret. In the trailer, we see Vision with a human form. The best possible explanation for this is that he’s using the mind stone to project that image in her head, as we see the stone glowing on his forehead.

Thanos sends his Black Order to get the stone from Vision. Wanda and Vision fight them and she calls Captain America and the Secret Avengers for help. In the trailer we can recognise Corvus Glaive through his spear.

We can also see how this battle is taking place in the same location in which Steve Rogers is confronting Proxima Midnight, therefor, Thanos will indeed send his Black Order to get the stone, where they confront the secret avengers.

The Secret Avengers decide to go back to Wakanda to protect the Soul Stone, where Black Panther wakes up the Winter Soldier and gives him a new arm. In the battle in Wakanda, we also see Iron Man, Hulk and War Machine, so they somehow get there aswell. My theory: Vision will probably die, and this would cause Tony to look for him. He finds him dead with Wanda mourning him. Wanda tells him that the Black order killed him and that they’re headed for Wakanda. Tony finds Bruce Banner and takes him and War Machine to Wakanda. He takes a new Hulkbuster armour with him.

I believe that Tony and Bruce will meet after the latter crashes of earth because Bruce seems to be involved with the new Hulkbuster armour.

In Wakanda, all of the Avengers reunite. An alien invasion leaded by the Black Order takes place to take the soul stone. I don’t know if they will be succesfull in taking it or delivering it to Thanos. May the aliens be altered Asgardians?

Now it’s time for Thanos to get the Time Stone. The heroes know that Thanos is coming to earth. When Bruce crashed in the Sanctum Sanctorum, he learned that the Time Stone is there, so him and Iron Man decide to warn Doctor Strange.

Then Thanos arrives on earth and all hell breaks loose in New York, where Peter Parker sees a weird spaceship.

I don’t know if the alien army was succesful in bringing him the Soul Stone given that in the trailer we see that in the (hypothetical) final battle, he still lacks at least three stones. Although this may have been changed for the trailer to avoid spoilers (Marvel usually does this).

That’s when the heroes somehow bring the battle to a different planet, some wierd orange planet.

Then that’s when Thor and the Guardians arrive to help all of the heroes. Then they all fight Thanos.

At the end, Thanos steals the Time Stone and in the last scene, he finds the reality stone. Ant-Man and the Wasp will take place before and during Infinity War. I think his cameo appearance (in some leaked set pictures) will connect with his movie.

What do you guys think? I believe that if the movie ended with new York being destroyed, it would be extremely emotional because that’s the city they got famous for protecting so everything they fought for would be crashed by one enemy in one day. I’m extremely hyped and can’t wait for this. Let’s hope it doesn’t suck...! Because my heart would be broken.

Your thoughts seem pretty logical given the trailers. The only thing I'll say is that I think you have some of them out of order, especially in regard to Stark, Banner, Strange and Wong. I also don't think Stark ever goes to Wakanda, and that its Banner in the Hulkbuster.

@MNLawyer - I know what you mean. What i think is obvious is that Hulk lands on earth on the Sanctum Sanctorum. Also, the scene with banner, Stark, Strange and Wong leads to the final battle. Stark even has the same clothes in the shots of the orange planet.

But if this is the case, how can Banner be in Wakanda battling the alien invasion? That's why i wrote that Banner visits the Sanctum twice.

I have an alternate theory which is that Bruce only visits the Sanctum once. When he lands, Thanos arrives on New York and the four heroes see him. Then Doctor Strange uses the Time Stone and that gives them time to prepare and that's why Hulk is also seen in Wakanda. Something like that. Then the story repeats itself but this time the heroes are prepared.Maybe?

@BaronZemo - I feel like Tony calls Cap and they decide they need Hulk to fight the Army in Wakanda, rather than Thanos. 4 on 1 in NY vs a few hundred on a few thousand in Wakanda

I don't think the soul stone is in Wakanda. What i actually think is going to happen, is that the avengers will be split during the entire movie. Iron Man, Spiderman and Doctor Strange go into space to help Thor and the GotG get to the soul stone before Thanos get to it, and that the rest of the Avengers try to hide Vision in Wakanda and will try to protect him from Thanos forces, while Thanos himself fight the other Avengers and GotG in space.
