When the 11th annual Tribeca Film Festival wrapped up on Saturday night, it did so with an advance screening of The Avengers. According to Christopher Rosen over at Huffington Post, Robert Downey Jr. was on hand, along with Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg and Cobie Smulders.

During the course of The Avengers, New York gets broken. Serpentlike alien ships crash through buildings, Hulk crashes through buildings, everyone else crashes through buildings. In short, things are a mess. And while the heroes try and take care of the bad guys with guns, we see New York's finest begin to do what they can on the ground to keep the public safe. Since the film was being screened in New York, Robert Downey Jr. stood up and dedicated the film to the first responders present, and their coworkers.

The article also points out that Cobie Smulders had her own cheering section at the showing! I was hoping for something like that, because both Mariah Hill and Miss Sulders are awesome, with potential to be more awesome. Here's hoping she gets used in a lot more films!

I haven't seen Chris Evans in any Avengers events lately, after the initial premiere. Guess he's busy doing other stuff.

Thats pretty awesome, the super heroes honoring the real life heroes.

But its too bad Cap isent there, hes the closest to these guys, no powers, wears blue, all heart.

But where are the NY EMT's and paramedics, we're first responders too, we get no love lol.

But this is still very very cool.
