Chris Evans Recalls "Geeking Out" First Day On THE AVENGERS Set Sighting Co-Stars Costumed

Elaborating on being on-set of The Avengers with co-stars equipped in superhero attire, and sharing a story with these larger-than-life characters, here's what 'Captain America' Chris Evans says!

Further covering Empire magazine's March 2012 issue, inside, the actor behind Marvel's "man out of time," Captain America, Chris Evans discusses his first day being on-set of the superhero extravaganza The Avengers. Particularly reminiscing geeking-out at the sight of his costumed co-stars, Chris Evans recalls:

"The first time I came on set and saw other people in costume, it was a night-time scene in the woods and it involved myself, Chris Hemsworth and Downey Jr. I had just seen THOR maybe two nights before, so I got on set and I saw Hemsworth in the cape and immediately thought, 'God, there's Thor, I'm looking at Thor,' and then I saw Downey Jr. in the suit.

It's amazing. The kid in me would say, 'I didn't get to act with Robert Downey Jr., I got to act with Iron Man.' I'd never had that before, where I had seen actors in a film that I was not a part of and then come to work and help them to extend that character's life. It's like being a little kid."

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”--the super hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel super heroes Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, & directed by Joss Whedon from a screenplay by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble on May 4, 2012. The film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to "Marvel's The Avengers," Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Iron Man 3" on May 3, 2013!; and “Thor 2” on November 15, 2013.

I saw an episode of Jimmy Fallon with Chris Evans where Fallon broke out a picture of Evans during his elementary school years. Dude really was a bit of a geek; skinny, awkward. Which is why I had faith from day one that he'd be a great Cap/Steve Rogers. Dude probably grew up getting picked on all the time himself and grew up to be all buff and stuff.

And you're not real @TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY, because you like comics, gushing about comics & movies, have a comic avatar and comic-related nickname.

I bet you're going gaga if Cavill is a comic-nut. But he's not. So you change your stance, just because...

It is good to see an actor excited for his role, glad to hear he is enjoying his time on set and hopefully a stellar film comes out of it.

@TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY - I don't know why you make Evan's reaction seem negative. Him showing excitement to be around these characters in a movie we all want to see or at least are going to see as comic fans, seems like a good thing to me. It also seemed to me from articles where Cavill described putting on the suit that he did laugh, but more so it sounded like it was out of excitement and a realization that he was happy/excited that this is really happening.

@Intruder - The irony in your post is that you are calling Superguy a "fag" while describing him (a guy) as sucking your dick...genius. Not only that but you sound like the same angry butthurt marvelite that you have always been not contributing to the article's content in any shape or form but merely attacking a user for his comment and ultimately non support of marvel.

You both fail to realize that you are the opposite sides of the same coin. Biased and jaded by fans of a company that pushed you to pick a side for some made up divide. To the both of you, keep fighting the good fight (insert rolling eyes here)....

@Intruder - Aww, butthurt marvelite is butthurt. You continue to prove yourself as out of touch and not able to perform "basic reading comprehension" because as a matter of fact I did not support "TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY" I said I disagreed with his negative opinion of Evans in this case.

You were the one coming in here calling people names and not talking about anything reported in the article because the superguy didn't conform to your marvelite biased bullshit, just as the article did not conform to his dc loving spin. However at least he kept his comment on topic, while you were more concerned with dudes sucking your dick...lol

@SUPERGUY Wow, so all of your judgment stems from how someone looks. If you are conventionally attractive then there would be no way that you could be into something as nerdy as comics, right?

...

Your logic fails. And not to mention there have been PLENTY of actors and actresses (and even directors) who have been attached to CBMs that have said they didn't pick up a comic until they landed the job.

The things people complain about will never cease to baffle me...

Anyhoo... Chris Evans is cute as a button, and it's great that he is showing enthusiasm for his role. Can't wait for The Avengers!

sarahsatire, you beat me to the punch, and you did so much more eloquently than I could.

Like she said, superguy...only people who look like "dweebs" are into comic books? Interesting.

GDS, Evans has said over and over again he never read the characters....He said he geeked out when he saw everyone in costume. Anyone would geek out when you realize your part of a Massive 100's of Millions of Dollars Franchise.

Also I'm hot and I'm Geek.....

TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY how old are you? 5, 6, 7 maybe? Cause that's the vibe I'm getting from you. Same with you Intruder? All you guys do is constantly whinge. Why don't you two just grow up and stop feeding each other. You guys are just as trollish as each other.

Now, back to the actual topic of the article, Chris Evans and about him geeking out with everyone on set. It's cute for him to do so. I most likely would as well, I'm sure every geek would.
