Ed. Norton Says Louis Leterrier Should be The Avengers Director

In a video from MTV, "Edward Norton Says 'Avengers' Director Should Get 'Dark Knight'-Level Creative Control." Check it Out!

Its awesome how much Edward Norton has been talking about Marvel lately. Remember all those times where he would never speak on the subject, or just don't have anything to say. Well now MTV, again, speaks to Norton about the Avengers director.

"The thing that was so cool about seeing 'The Dark Night' was seeing that those guys really let Chris Nolan go there," he said. "They let him go long and dark and deep and we had been trying that and I think they weren't as comfortable with it."

the term "with great power comes great responsibility" comes to mind when dealing with studios and directors.....
unfortunatley, the studios have the power but none of the responsibility!

Iv'e finally came to the conclusion that Louis Leterrier should indeed direct the Avengers. Hes the only director that was actually interested in the entire universe including Captain America, Iron Man, and of course Hulk. All he has to do with Thor, is get some enlightenment with Kenneth Branagh.

Marvel, let Louis direct The Avengers.

Louis should definitely direct The Avengers IMO! The end fight scene in The Incredible Hulk showed how well he can handle the big CGI action scenes while the Banner chase at the start was brilliantly filmed! :)

Believe it or not, I only just found out today, that Louis directed Clash of the Titans.

To me, that Louis's take on a Thor.

Basically he has used elements from each Avenger.

Yep, Ed Norton is a brilliant man! He can see an excellent
director when he sees one! I agree Letterrier should direct
THE AVENGERS!

He is an excellent action director but he also sees how to
frame emotional scenes too! He is the complete package for
a bigger-than-life yet true-to-life movie, which CBM's are!

I'm torn on Letterir.
He directed The first two Transporter movies.
I like the first one, but 2 was just rediculous and I thought it tried too hard to be over the top.
But then, I love The Incredible Hulk, and I think Louis is great because he actually likes this kind of material, and seems to take great interest in the superhero stuff.

But then there's Clash of the Titans which I just cannot bring myself to look forward to. I mean, it just looks like a generic action flick, and it totally bastardizes the original. Plus, Worthington is a hack.
However, I will reserve final judgement untill I see the movie.

So, in short, I think Letterier is great on certain material, but not good on other stuff. And I think he would do the Avengers justice.

But, we all know that Favreau is going to get the position just because everyone and their dogs is gay for Iron Man.

TIH was so spot on for both series...(comic and TV). Im Hurt that it didnt do well in theaters. It was hands down better than the first. If this was the only one that came out im sure the stinch of the first wouldnt be in folks mouths and they would have ventured out to see it.

It was damned b4 it got started.
I hope some kind of way they get another one launched.

I'm kinda surprised everyone is saying nice things about him actually. Even though I liked Louis, they better get a better CGI team (I don't know who's to blame for that in TIH) cause it was terrible, like 10 years old effects (Independence Day graphics) which look okay, but living up to today's standards (Transformers robots/Gollum from LotRs/I Robot). It HAS TO look good in every way, especially when they are big make believable creatures ya know.

Norton had me worried there for a minute with the possibility of bailing out on The Avengers but he’s finally talking about it now. He’s been my choice for Banner since Fight Club.
LuckyKyd
LuckyKyd - 3/16/2010, 9:54 AM
Why don't he direct it himself, lol ?? ;)

I would definitely be down with Letterier for Avengers, just saw TIH again last night and it is actually a better film than some give it credit for. Norton is a brilliant Banner, nuff said!

OMG! I frigging said this about Letterrier from day 1. Well.... ever since i re-watched the Hulk about 6 months ago!! The guy would know how to capture Cap and the rest of the guys. I for one...am very much in favour of Mr Letterrier directing this movie.....Maybe even instead of directing Avengers...how about we hand him CAP to direct??? Its a bold statement i know...but i respect myself for putting it out there!! HOLLA

valeriesghost - 3/16/2010, 1:26 PM
I say give the man the job!! He seems like the guy who would definitly be in to doing it and he can direct action really well. he respects the material and would give a good run.

dancingmonkey08 - 3/16/2010, 3:54 PM
No absolutely not, I love Louis and he did an awesome job with the Incredible Hulk but I dont think he could handle the Avengers movie. He should definetly direct a couple of Incredible Hulk sequels though

Im losing my nights of sleep waiting for IM2; it's gonna be epic, cuz I know Favreau has passion and responsibility with his work. Leterrier seems to be that kind of guy.

Wadey09@ the studios have the power but none of the responsibility!

and because of this I think we're still gonna see many deep sh*t movies and some few good jobs in the next years. I think we're still gonna see many Brian Singers and Shumachers (or schmuckers) craping the floor in these times of comic book movies.

So, lets collect the good potatos.

I've been saying this for months. Plus, he's very outspoken about it, and I like his way of thinking. Besides, if he can make Tim Roth look like a super soldier, imagine what he can do with guys like Cap and Hawkeye.
