Hello Everyone,

We all know about that phase 2 kicking into gear and I am excited too. Marvel is starting to introduce more and more heroes to their solo film line up. We have Ant-Man and Dr.Strange even getting a movie soon. It would build up for another great Avengers film. One thing I think is missing besides the heroes are the villains. Mainly when we get into a story we always know more about the capabilities of a hero on it's own than a villain's own. Which is why I believe Marvel should have solo films focusing on their villains in a more anti hero position might I say. They would be similar to the hero complex formula but on their own terms and goals. I can imagine a fast paced dramatic epic about this villains journey in some far away land.

A story about trial and error including redemption. We see this character rise up to become a moments hero. It will be different from the hero solo films they are doing. It doesn't have to be an origins story but an offshoot story set ahead in the future or the past. I think this will greatly work because more and more villains are becoming popular. One character I had in mind that would be the perfect test for this formula would be Loki.

I feel the character of Loki has been underused in terms of what he is. I know there are those sympathetic moments where you feel for his struggles in life but to me it could be more expanded on. Tom Hiddleston has been a fan favorite villain in just two appearances currently with Thor and The Avengers. So why not give him a solo film, which focuses on his weakness and him learning to become better. This will be a true test for this villain.

Here is the story I had in mind for Loki:

---------------------------------------------
The Loki

The film is set in the near future. We see Loki in hell with a terrified look on his face. Loki has been brutally defeated by a powerful demon named Zangoro. In exchange for the defeat Loki has given his soul to hell. His is taken away from his powers and strength. He is left weak and helpless. Zangoro offers to give Loki's powers back until he has proven he can be a human. The demon opens a portal from hell and sends him on a trip to Earth once more. We see Loki drift in the ocean naked. He is bloody and bleeding throughout. He soon passes out in the ocean and wakes up on a wooden bed in a hut. He opens his eyes to see an Indian like man standing over him. "Where am I", Loki Says. The man responds back, "India". Here we are introduced to some new characters. Including the new main villain of the story named Grim Reaper who is now portrayed as a Tribal Indian Warrior who believes he represents the faith of death. He plans to terrorize and destroy the world through his Grim Reaper Alliance. He believes Loki to not be a God anymore but a weak man. Loki accepts the challenge to save Earth knowing he must keep his deal with Zangoro to regain his powers back. The Old Man who rescued Loki willingly prepares to train and heal him through mystical voodoo practices in a time of two months. The Grim Reaper soon emerges from the shadows and murders The Old Man in cold blood. Loki now in mourning of The Old Man's given generosity swears to have his revenge and to everyone who has been terrorized by The Grim Reaper's reign of terror. We see Loki in a green garb wielding an ancient sword given as a gift before The Old Man died. "I am a human, no more a God. As I go against my will and true nature I realize one thing. That I must become a savior to all". He slowly regains portions of his powers back throughout the film. The story spans in epic lengths from India to the final battle in China where we see Loki also face off against Tribal Warriors and Ninjas of The Grim Reaper Alliance. We see Loki becoming a hero and saving innocent people in danger. It would be an extremely dramatic dark action film which sees him overcome his true strength.

Or how about a Red Skull war film set in the future....
--------------------------------------------
Marvel's The Red Zone

Set in the year 5020, an eternal war brews on Earth. In a world where S.H.I.E.L.D and heroes no longer exists and the order in the government has divided the country. A futuristic faction formed known as The Red Zone is designated to keep order and rule what is left of America which has now been limited to one city. The rest of America has become a desert wasteland in the remains of a nuclear attack S.H.I.E.L.D caused decades ago. Only New York remains and It has been closed off surrounded by a metal brigade stretching miles far. It is now an over populated futuristic city of criminals and evil. Many survivors remain and the city is constantly growing in size. The brave soldiers of The Red Zone maintain order over chaos in the now desolate crime ridden city. There leader, Jacob Stone who is believed to be a long decedent of The Red Skull that bares his name and legacy. Even a face to prove as terrifying there could ever be. Soon when an old enemy spawns from the past decade returns, everything they know will change. A group of aliens known as The Overlords emerge over the city with a line of ships planning for their darkest invasion in history. The new Red Skull must prove his leadership to his people and prepares for full battle with The Overlord Army. Many lives are on the line and the city is at risk of being destroyed. It is an intense war film set in a futuristic Marvel universe.

And a comedic villain adventure...

I think DC's villains could hold their own solo films better than Marvel.

Would be pretty cool. Problem is Marvel is limited to three movies a year. They already have phase 2 planned out and are starting on phase 3. It would be like eight years before it happened!

I think villains in a solo film would be awesome. But the thing is, with a character like Red Skull or Joker. I don't think it'd work because the protagonist has to have some level of good in him, even if he's more bad than good, a purely evil protagonist wouldn't make for that good of a story.

I think a film like this could work with: Loki, Venom, Deathstroke, Bane and Taskmaster.

Deathstroke and Venom are commonly viewed as villains, but contrary to popular belief they are anti-heroes and do good things. A movie with either of these two would be awesome.

Taskmaster, Loki and Bane are primarily villains. But they all have highly entertaining stories anyway, and all three have played the hero before and all three do have their heroic sides. Movies with them would be awesome...

Just my 2 cents.

Villains I think could hold their own film:
Loki, Joker, Magneto... I can't really think of anymore, at least in my opinion.

And yet in another strange twist no one is bothering to discuss about my creative story ideas which took me over two hours to write up ^_^ . Maybe I shouldn't try so hard next time knowing this would happen,, maybe my next editorial should just be about Batman getting raped by a wolf,...

I'd loveto see a Bane movie. A Joker and Venom one would also be really good too.

Hehehe, villains who can hold their own film.

They are characters who have selfish motivations. Give them a supporting cast and a good story and all you'll need is a decent director and a budget.

I don't see it happening anytime soon, but eventually, I think we'll get there. And I do agree, DC's villains are more interesting. First villain movie that comes to mind is the "Rogues".

Anyway, those who think villains can't lead a story should seriously read some Shakespeare. Look at the Godfather trilogy and Goodfellas.
