FAN-ticizing: The Avengers Villains Possibilities Narrowed Down.

I will be using the process of elimination to track down the "other villain" of the Avengers!

A popular pick among users on here to be the "other villain" for the Avengers are the Skrulls. Well I dont know if everyone knows this or but a fellow CBMer knows the other villain(s) and says it is NOT the Skrulls.

Earlier today, we got news that an alien chase scene was shot. Now that can either just be Loki (Loki is considered an alien) or the "other villain".

Here are a couple of choices the "other villain" could be:

Ultron

Like most people on this site I do not consider Ultron an option. That possibility was pretty much eliminated when we got the news Hank Pym will not be in the movie. Marvel has been pretty loyal to the source material and I doubt they would mess up Ultron's origins, So...

Kang

It would be awesome if Kang was the "other villain" but I highly doubt he is. The reason for my doubt is that in the movies Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and General Ross are all warned of a possible "big threat". Well, Kang is from the future and no one knows when he will show up. So it is impossible for Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D to warn anyone of someone whom they do not know.

Thanos

For those noobs people who might be new to comics and dont know Thanos here is a description of his powers via Wikipedia:

"Thanos is a mutant member of the race of superhumans known as the Titanian Eternals. The character possesses abilities common to the Eternals, but in some cases far beyond any other known member of his race; acquired through a combination of his mutant Eternal heritage, bionic amplification, mysticism, and the entity Death. He has demonstrated enormous superhuman strength, stamina, and particularly durability; is able to absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy, enough to obliterate planets and at full power destroy entire solar systems; is virtually ageless and immortal; does not need food, drink, or oxygen; and is capable of certain telekinesis, as well as telepathy and matter manipulation. The advanced technology within his transportation chairs includes force field projection, time travel, movement through alternate universes, space flight, and teleportation over interstellar distances. Thanos is an accomplished hand-to-hand combatant, having been trained in the art of war on Titan.

Thanos possesses superhuman intellect (he considers his mind his greatest weapon) and has knowledge of Celestial and other alien technology. Thanos is a genius in virtually all known fields of advanced science and has created technology far exceeding contemporary Earth science. He is also a master strategist and sometimes utilizes a space vessel called Sanctuary II as a base of operations."

Thanos is another popular choice around here and I agree with everyone who believes so. He just seems to be the only logical choice using process of elimination.

What do you guys think?

I think it would be TOOOO early for Thanos to show up. He should be in the 2nd sequel
ThreeBigTacos
ThreeBigTacos - 8/15/2011, 9:01 PM
I think it's the Chitauri. Sure its not the Skrulls, and their almost the same damn thing, but if the Skrulls get debunked, that doesn't rule out the Chitauri from the Ultimates. My biggest thing about the enemy is how Fury is 'trying to save the world'. It has to be a tangible threat that SHIELD knows about.

I keep thinking that maybe Fury is pulling together this team, because he knows that Earth's current technology can't fight back this Alien Force that's coming to earth. Maybe that's why he calls it the Avenger Initiative. Because The invading force will be causing a lot of destruction, and these heros are there to Avenge the loses.

But then again, with Loki in the mix, how would Fury and SHIELD be able to detect this threat, when obviously Loki and the cube could just sneak them onto earth already. Maybe it is Thanos agghh who knows!

Good article. Now my head hurts :p

@ThreeBigTacos- lol yes it is confusing. But you are right chitauri is a possibility I should have added him.

@0SageMode0- I kind of want Ultron for the sequel.

@ ThreeBigTacos Not to mention their extremely different not just in terms of name.

I really want the villain to be Kang, but you do make a good point.

@BooYah

Great editorial. But I honestly don't think it is Thanos. Why? Because Thanos is simply TOO powerful for the Avengers to face. In the comics, it takes every single character in the Marvel universe to take him down. And if you introduce Thanos now, then every other villain that the Avengers face in the sequels will look like child's play

So....DCMarvelfreshmen knows who the other villan is??!! Spill it already!! LOL!! Great editorial @BooYah!!!!!

@BooYah: Oh definitely. I would envision Ultron being in the sequel. But like indoraptor12 said, bringing Thanos in the first movie would be kinda impulsive. Being that Thanos is crazy powerful and pretty much Marvel's version of DC's Darkseid, Thanos would be perfect for being the main villain in the last Avengers movie to top off the trilogy
BooYah
BooYah - 8/15/2011, 9:33 PM
@indoraptor12 + @0SageMode0- I agree, I would not want them to make the same mistake the Blade series did by having their most powerful villain in the first movie. I must be forgetting someone.

@bbarber2323- I do not know if he knows who the actual villain is or not.

@BooYah. Masters of Evil? Mandarin? Enchantress? Galactus? good article.

on Thanos: wasn't the Infinity Gauntlet in Odin's Chamber in "Thor"? and wasn't it at Comic-Con last year?

Want the skrulls for the first film. I want Ultron in the midst of the Kree-Skrull war for the sequel. He begins his plot at the start of the film but soon becomes upstaged as an alien war breaks out above our planet. While the Avengers are pre-occupied with preserving the planet from the crossfire, Ultron steps in and appropriates the alien tech for his own purposes. Making Ultron again, the "big bad" for the movie.

Then somehow weave Kang into the plot of Infinite Gauntlet for the third film.

It could be the Kree.
BooYah
BooYah - 8/15/2011, 10:27 PM
@RunDTC- Thank you, I dont think Masters of Evil will be in it. Masters of Evil would be too much vilains for the first film. As for Enchantress and Mandarin I think they will be in Iron Man 3 and Thor 2. Galactus is a possibility.

It would be a dream come true to see Thanos or Galactus on the big screen, but I'd prefer they wait and do it right, rather than rush it so that it doesn't make sense within their universe. If only Marvel could reacquire the rights to all their characters...

i think its a huge possibility, seeing as how they made the infinity gauntlet already. why make it without thanos wearing it?

especially them showcasing it at comic con 2 years ago

I still think it is the Kree we will be seeing in this movie.
ScionStorm

Kree should come in to the sequel. Captain Marvel needs either to be introduced or to have a movie of his own. Eh, Ronan bla bla bla. He may have died around the same time Ms. Marvel got her powers, but lets not forget the original Kree villain- Yon Rogg.

Are we 100% ruling out Skrulls here? Who is the source who says it's not them.

I like Thanos and think it would be good and it was hinted at in Thor with the Infinity Gauntlet but I'm not sure we're quite ready for him yet on screen.

Since they aren't following the Ultimates route to a tee, and that they'll surely want a female powerhouse for the Avengers in the sequel, it is definitely the Kree. Expect Ms. Marvel to have her origins either at the end of this film or the beginning of the sequel. Hell, she might even have her own solo film following the Avengers.

Thanos will be in one of the sequels, they need to set up other marvel characters like Dr Strange, Adam Warlock, Silver Surfer and basically their whole cosmic universe

I am starting to think that Loki will influence Hulk like in the debut of The Avengers (1963) in somewhere of the movie , And they will try to deal with it at the first 20-30 minutes of the movie then they will lead on to the main event.
