Marvel Planning Mystery Press Event For Tuesday; Will They Announce Upcoming Film Slate?

We know that a new preview of Avengers: Age of Ultron is coming this Tuesday during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it sounds as if something even bigger is on the way as a press event has been announced in LA. Could Marvel be about to unveil their upcoming film slate at last?

Marvel Studios have something potentially very big planned for Tuesday as promotion for Avengers: Age of Ultron begins as they've invited the press to a mysterious event on October 28th at the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles, California. It appears as if some fans will also be able to attend based on a Tweet telling LA locals to keep an eye on Facebook for a special announcement. What significance does the fact that members of the press have been invited have altogether?

Avengers: Age of Ultron set visits are also set to debut at some point on Tuesday, and while they'll more than likely be made up of month old interviews which no longer have any real relevance thanks to those which have taken place since, we may get some new images and details. So, what could this press event be about? As the trailer was originally set to debut on Tuesday, it's possible that it was originally intended for that in a bid to build hype around its reveal later that same evening during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. However, while the new preview could still be shown, the fact that this event runs for an hour is possibly very telling about what Marvel have planned.

Marvel can't be happy that details about Captain America 3 and how it leads to Civil War were leaked recently in a report about Robert Downey Jr. joining the cast, so will they finally make that and Doctor Strange official for 2016? It's also likely that they could announce their whole slate as Warner Bros. recently did with their DC Comics adaptations, but as this is probably going to be an Avengers-centric event, it may be worth not getting too excited as it could just be that they'll show footage from Age of Ultron. Eh who am I kidding, it'll probably be a Hulk Agents of Smash crossover with Ultimate Spider-Man.

I'm thinking they will announce the rest of the Phase 3 films AND the huge universe covering crossover that has been rumoured to take place after the third Avengers film.

That's one of the best reasons for not taking a "side", competition drives quality and (in this case) the amount of content/previews we're treated to. If Marvel go big, DC go big and vice-versa.

They're gonna announce their Batman reboot.

I wanted to do this article a couple hours ago but I only have my phone.

I hope they don't announce all their movies I honestly think that's stupid. If WB/DC wants to change anything or something doesn't work the response will be just as bad as when they delayed BvS.

Also they don't have nothing big to announce anymore. It was like telling us what well get on Christmas the next 5 years, it made us happy the first year but then there won't be any surprise

I'm hoping this is the film slate, and if so, then I'm hoping it reads something at least similar (Different Order or Sub-Titles aside):

May 1, 2015 – The Avengers: Age of Ultron
July 17, 2015 – Ant-Man
May 6, 2016 – Captain America: The Fallen Son
July 8, 2016 – Doctor Strange
May 5, 2017 - Thor: Ragnarok
July 28, 2017 - Guardians Of The Galaxy: War Of Kings
November 3rd, 2017 - Black Panther
May 4th, 2018 - New Avengers
July 6th, 2018 - Inhumans
November 2nd, 2018: Planet Hulk
May 3rd, 2019: Marvel's Infinity

I hope it's the identities of a few of their mystery films, but not their 5 year plan like WB. Maybe official name for Cap 3, casting for Dr. Strange.

Pie in the sky, it's details on the big Sony/Marvel Spider-Man Compromise.

I don't think Marvel would announce anything just because of what WB announce. They already had tuesday planned to be a big day and they said we would know more about MCU's future on the 75 years documentary.

I think they will make a Planet Hulk film, due to the fact that its looks as though the Hulk will finally snap in AOU!

I'm thinking they will announce one of their phase 3 movies, not all of them, as Feige has said they want to keep giving out surprises throughout the year. With that said, I think they are officially going to present Doctor Strange.

@DEVLIN712

There is such a thing as overhyping, though. As long as DC doesn't have anything beyond announcements and plans, it's just a contest to grab people's attention with smoke and mirror marketing. Personally, I could do without Zack Snyder's grainy sponsored selfies.

Film slates are news, sure. Actor signings are news. "Pay attention to me! Please please!" is not news.

Marvels upcoming film slate for next 7 years = Ant Man, Dr Strange, Cap 3, Thor 3, GOTG 2, Ant Man 2, Dr Strange 2, Avengers 3, Inhumans, Ant Man 3, Dr. Strange 3, GOTG 3, Avengers 4.

Like others have stated, I REALLY doubt Marvel will announce multiple movies. It will probably be one or two. If they do announce a bunch of movies, then wow.

Marvel is not stupid enough to blow their load and announce their FULL slate to 2020. They are not as desperate as DC are to make a name for themselves.

Doctor Strange actor announced, Cap 3's title, and maybe the Black Panther movie date AT MOST.

There is no way they are going to release a full slate.

I'd say that this is a good opportunity - as people have mentioned, to confirm their 2016 lineup (titles, casting, etc.). They're not going to wait until SDCC next year.

Great opportunity if you ask me.
