Marvel's THE AVENGERS Ends Its Theatrical Run In US With $623.3 Million
After 154 days of release in North America, the Joss Whedon-directed superhero epic The Avengers, has ended its theatrical run. More after the jump...
The Avengers has officially ended the theatrical run in US theatres. And what a run it was. The film opened on May 4th, and went on to break the opening weekend record with a shocking $207 million, as well as becoming the biggest film of the year, so far. The Joss Whedon-helmed superhero team up of a lifetime is also the third highest-grossing film ever, making over $1.5 billion worldwide. The only two films that are ahead of The Avengers, are James Cameron's Avatar and Titanic. Many would think that now The Avengers have finally assembled, this is the end. Of course, we know that this was the ending of Phase One, but also the beginning of Phase Two, which starts next year with Shane Black's Iron Man 3.
The Avengers is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.
