Not bad! I still think his overall appearance is great considering how wrong it could of been. At least we're getting a costume that looks like him and is practical.

I'm also almost positive they covered his neck to make his chin stand out and look more like Cap rather than letting it blend with his neck in the last movie.

100% disagree. the official stills have been fantastic. the costume photographs horribly with normal cameras / spy shots, etc. but for whatever movie magic they do so it looks right on film? I believe that's Captain America as much as I think Christian Bale can actually move in a Batman costume.

so uh, one of the most popular and loved characters in all of comics is "probably the worst character ever"?

riiiiiight

Love the costume, hate the helmet. It squeezes his cheeks too much, giving him this weird baby-faced look.
Without the mask, the suit looks fantastic.

@DCMarvelFreshman

I don't think you're supposed to use inverted commas for Cap's name. Just Captain America is fine because it's his name. You'd say "Captain America" if you were talking about the movie and left out "The First Avenger" part.

What makes him one of the worst superheroes ever? Do you know anything about him? Give us 3 valid reasons as to why you think he sucks.

I had a dream last night about this movie. In the dream the movie was really bad in terms of cinematography and was all over the place. I woke up and was thankful it was only a dream. Im soooo f'n stoked for this flick.

I think I have decided that part of the issue with the helmet is that it is too tall, it makes it look like his head is shaped like a pill capsule. Why does he need all that extra space in there? For his super hair?

the more i see photos of Cap, the more i am liking the suit. Just wish that they just made a modified version of his First Avenger suit and tweak his current helmet

something similar to this

I'll give 3 reasons why cap sucks:
He's often used as a mouthpiece for watered down patriotism and hokey ideas on impractically simple morality.

he's a kitch and nostalgic symbol for a simplicity that never was, one that doesn't apply (despite however much affection people might have), and one that lacks the 'dramatic' (as in theater and storytelling) element to make a multi dimensional character.

The character rebelled against Tony Starks power during intiative (was on
Caps side by the way), only to later take the same role, establish his own leadership in the same way, with control over an army of multiple avengers teams, and no one cares because every character gets teary when cap is mentioned.

I like movie and Ult. Cap though.

@ 1980

It wasn't 9/11 that made Cap a popular character. He was taken more seriously before that. I'll agree, in the 80's he was very hokey, but so was every comic character...hell, comics as a whole were hokey in the 80's...and early to mid 90's.

basically you think his costume sucks, so you hate his character. Thats a pretty poor reason.

"He's a goofy character with an even goofier origin story"

His origin is no more goofy than any other comic character.

Also, standing up for the rights of others is pretty much what every super hero aspires to do, thats why they all look up to Cap. So I'm missing how he's a "goofy" character. But to each their own i guess.

@1980: I think the millions of Americans with the flag on their houses or porches might just disagree with your viewpoint that the flag is a goofy symbol.

And if he has increased in popularity again since 9/11 then that just proves that the reason he was created is still relevant, to inspire Americans through the adversity and fear of war and conflict.

So there.

ORPHEUS - "I'll give 3 reasons why cap sucks:

A part of Captain America's character is his patriotism, there was nothing watered down about it.

he's a kitch and nostalgic symbol for a simplicity that never was, one that doesn't apply (despite however much affection people might have), and one that lacks the 'dramatic' (as in theater and storytelling) element to make a multi dimensional character."

Captain America has shown more to himself than just being one dimensional and has dealt with adversities other than anti-patriotic oppositions.

The character rebelled against Tony Starks power during intiative (was on
Caps side by the way), only to later take the same role, establish his own leadership in the same way, with control over an army of multiple avengers teams, and no one cares because every character gets teary when cap is mentioned".

Cap didn't establish his leadership the same way Stark did. Stark supported the SRA that made the superheroes register as protectors for the government with their secret identities compromised. Steve said that the onlyway he would helm the role was that he did things his way, and his way didn't compromise the freedom and liberties of the superheroes that Stark's leadership did.
