While various stars of Marvel's highly-anticipated The Avengers film, answered "No" when questioned whether they've read the film's script, which The Incredible Hulk screenwriter Zak Penn drafted, and The Avengers' director Joss Whedon is re-tweaking. Well now one of the ensemble's most prominent members Robert Downey Jr. "Tony Stark" reveals to MTV's Josh Wigler, that he has read script, while on the Due Date red carpet.



"Downey said that he's read "The Avengers" writer-director Joss Whedon's screenplay, which he described as "fantastic" but needing, well, a few alterations: "Joss Whedon is awesome, and once I tear his script to smithereens and fix it, we're going to have a great movie."


Starring opposite Downey, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Ckark Gregg, and Mark Ruffalo, The Avengers is scheduled to assemble in theaters May 6, 2012 in 3D!

Well Downey's huge on improv so i'm sure most of the tweaking will be done on set.

Zach's a bit of an asshole. Apparently he and RDJ REALLY don't get on. Zach's a one note actor that is trying to steal the attention that RDJ is getting because he gets to play Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes....how sad.

lets hope they make a team movie & not focus most of the screen time to one charactor.

i.e x-men trilogy & wolverine.

also if i get to see one on one fights with the following charactors i'll be happy.

1.thor vs the hulk
2.iron man vs hulk
3.captain america vs the hulk

then the avengers vs loki,enchatress & the hulk will be shit hot.

I'm not a big fan of Whedon, so it delights me to hear the veteran Downey, jokingly or not, show interest in making the script better.

they won't make the same mistake fox did with x-men 3,you know colossus & juggernaunt in the same film & they didn't even collide.

also i thought what captain america vs the hulk might look like but slighty better.

the incredible hulk film - the fight on campus where tim roth is leaping all around the hulk dodgeing all his blows,just before the hulk kicks him into a tree.

Awsome writer, director and actors. The Avengers will surely be the best CBM ever! However, if Downey is planning any more of those awful Tony/Pepper scenes, I'd rather him not mess with the script! :P (I only say that because of Paltrow's stiff acting, not his!) Good stuff DCMF.

So as we heard before this film will apperantly be used to setup the Marvel Cosmic Universe. What aspects of that do you'll think we will see in this? Personaly I would love for it to setup The Infinity Gauntlet story, how epic would that be to see on screen.

It would be pretty cool to have Modok on screen but I think there is just not enough room for him in the Avengers. I'm glad that everything is coming together now. This summer is going to be massive with Thor and Captain America.

Great stuff! I really hope to see IM and Hawkeye at each others throats throughout the movie. While they respect each other and are very good friends, they have never really liked each other.

Red Skull and the Hydra as the main villains!:) It would be cool to see Skull get trapped in the cosmic cube and in the present day he is released by the new members of Hydra! Then he could have those awesome cosmic powers which make him superhuman!

Red Skull is pure evil inside out and the fact that he is been inside the cosmic cube makes him a ideal and perfect menacing counterforce to our heroes! In the middle of the movie he could brainwash The Hulk as his personal weapon, cause he sees that the Hulk´s powers are much bigger than his cosmic powers!

The villain is probably going to be Loki which definitely isnt bad choice either! My third choice is Thanos!

This will no doubt be the most epic CBM in history. Joss Whedon was hired because he is a master of two things. Script writing/editing, and handling large ensemble casts. (Well, three if you also include he's an avid comic book writer for Marvel.)

There is a "magic number" when it comes to script writing characters in a movie or tv show. People meeting characters for the first time can only focus on seven or less characters in a single session. Every Star Trek crew has had seven bridge members. Serenity, (which Joss created) had seven leads. The Avengers, as it stands right now, has eight leads, and that's only counting the good guys. It's going to be totally busy to make sure they all get enough quality screen time. I, for one, am thankful they're not going to try to cram the Pym's into this as well.

I have no doubt Joss will make this movie fun, exciting, heroic, and totally entertaining.

SkylerMystwood@ The Lord of the Rings had more lead characters than eight so im sure they can make this right if they just want to. They need time to make a proper movie thats what counts.
