Scarlett Johansson Says 'Black Widow's Past Catches Up To Her In AVENGERS: AOU

In a very brief interview with IGN, the Captain America: The Winter Soldier actress drops a few hints about what we can expect from Black Widow's arc in Joss Whedon's Avengers sequel. More after the jump.

We already know that Black Widow has "red in her ledger", and in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the character's checkered past is touched upon yet again - if only very briefly. But it seems Miss Romanov will have to face her demons head on in Joss Whedon's Age Of Ultron..and she may not be the only one. "In Avengers 2 we go back..we definitely learn more about Widow's back-story, and get to find out how she became the person you see," Johansson reveals to IGN when quizzed about what we can expect from Romanov's arc in the sequel to Marvel's The Avengers. "All of these characters have deep, dark pasts, and I think that the past catches up to some of us a little bit." Can we assume that Ultron uses Widow's lethal history as an assassin to try to break her spirit? It certainly sounds as if she and the rest of our heroes may have to face up to certain mistakes they've made anyway. You can see the video at the link below.

Not that this is particularly relevant, but I hope they go back to her Iron Man 2 hair style in AoU. Wasn't a fan of her look in Avengers, and her look in Cap 2 doesn't seem much better.

Instead of Aaron Taylor they should have casted Aaron Paul as Quicksilver

and instead of casting Aaron Taylor in Godzilla they should have casted none other than Aaron Paul aka Jesse Pinkman

Heisenberg & pinkman vs GODZILLA!

Well considering she's an infinitely more interesting character than Thor, I certainly hope so! Thor is a near invulnerable demigod that flys and throws a cool hammer around. Does it make for some great action? Sure, but aside from a few daddy issues there isn't a whole lot more to him..if it wasn't for Loki he'd actually be pretty bland.

Maybe her origin in the Red Room and Russia will be examined. Her Soviet/KGB background. In the clinics, Widow is long loved due to experimentation by the Red Room, a covert facility that trained female orphans to become Black Widows aka femme fat ale assassins (The film SALT kinda stole from this idea). I want to see Widow's true backstory which is her beginnings in 1940d Russia being trained and molded by KGB

So finally the mewling quim will have her back story surface.

Which brings me to assume and hope that she'll be killed off in Age of Ultron.

Have her be killed off - sacrificing herself to prevent someone from her past killing the team. Then we can have a prequel film with her and hawkeye (Or the Winter Soldier) showing us her backstory

@staypuffed

She's only in the movie for eye candy and people are getting annoyed with that - she's not the best actress and she's currently pregnant so that's going to end up delaying future films or forcing rushed filming considering she was meant to have a large part in Avengers AoU.

Not to mention that she's arguably the 2nd weakest member of The Avengers and the film series seems to be pushing the whole 'spy' thing when they should be showing us her backstory instead.

If a character has to die in AoU which seems more and more likely - then Hawkeye and Black Widow are the most likely.

Hawkeye comics origin kinda sucks but his Ultimaite version is okay...experimented on with super soldier serum that enhanced his agility, perception and senses only. He was an Exxon who claimed to be a former Olympic archer. May have towels the origin a little bit. Maybe he was an ex con who was adept in gamekeeper type hunting/rural guerrilla warfare. Outdoors type assasin who hunts his targets like prey in a jungle and was then experimented on by SHIELD.l and recruited by then when they iotixed his talent. Sit make him just a regular run ogre kill assain who just happens to use a now. Maybe he was a kjnd of nomadic hermit who was contracted by individuals when they needed someone covert to get the obj done. He grew up hunting and living I the wilderness and treated his assassins trade like hunting animals. He's adept with a bow. Idk. Hawkeye a difficult character to crack. I'm kinda sick of the military/ assassins origins. Its too easy. I have I no problem with Falcon ow beig a vet cause his original origin is kinda far fetched and blacksploitation like. Outside the box please.

Nor do I. There is a disturbing trend of misogyny when it comes to female characters that one sees among the fanboy community. They're way too happy to see strong female characters either killed or ignored.
