The Avengers! Is this Something or Not?

This is my first article but here goes. Is this bit of information a coincidence or is it a subtle hint that's gone under everyone's noses?

Hey there guys,

This is my first article so give us a chance. I'm a tad excited for the Avengers and I keep checking looking for news on the aliens, the bad guys and any news on the film.

So I was sat bored the other night and I decided to change my background from the first pic we got of Bane from the Dark Knight Rises to an Avengers one. I'm a bit of a Thor fan-boy so I was looking at the banners.
So I went on the marvel website and found the downloads. Then I saw the URL:

http://i.annihil.us/u/prod/avengersmovie/teaser8/wallpaper.html?file=assets/images/wallpapers/avengers_wp3_1920.jpg

Break it down and you have...

Annihilus!!!!!

Now am I just getting jumpy and excitable or do you think it's a subtle hint from the studios?

Let me know what you think. See ya.

The thing is, 'Annihilus' is part of the Fantastic Four property, which Fox owns- as well as the Skrulls for that matter- so if the 'bad guy/guys ARE either of these two...OR both, I think they would need legal permission from Fox to use them.
So I don't know what the hell's going on.

They've had the annihil.us thing since... like 2008 or before. I noticed it before the first Iron Man movie came out.

Could be part of Marvel's master plan. Imagine that since 2008 they've been plotting to pit ALL of Marvel's finest against Annihilus and leaving the clue on a URL on every film site leading up to the Avengers. I mean they've been building up to the Avengers for since Iron Man I would say.

I'm with MARVEL72...there's so much in the stew and SO many sources Whedon could tap in the long history of the comic, I really don't know WHAT to expect at this point. I STILL find it hard to believe that there won't be SOME references to the KREE-SKRULL saga, considering Carol Danvers will arrive soon in the Marvel Movie/TV Universe, and she had a lead role in the events leading into it, as WELL as ANNIHILUS.

As many of you know, ANNIHILUS broke through a PORTAL in the NEGATIVE ZONE left open by CAPTAIN MAR-VELL and RICK JONES during the first issue of the saga (Avengers. Vol.1#89). The Avengers managed to drive him back through the portal, and the rest is history.

This wouldn't matter to me much, but if Easter eggs mean anything in the Marvel movies so far, there's one that hasn't gotten too much press, but I find it curious. In lieu of a screen shot (which I can't find online), I'll let good 'ol Wiipedia explain:

"Although he does not appear in The Incredible Hulk, Rick's name is briefly shown on a list of Bruce Banner's known associates during the film's opening credits."

Rick is an integral part of not only the Hulk and Captain Marvel's origins, but it's his 'Brigade' that helps the Avengers located the Hulk in their first issue. In the film, could he be a former research colleague of Banner's and Selvig's who is a lynchpin in all this mess? If so, would the rumored Jeffery Wright be playing HIM instead of the even MORE rumored THANOS (I hope not)? I don't have ANY idea...and the fact that Annihilus may or may not be a property of FOX is ANOTHER issue. I claim WTF? about ALL this.

What we DO know is that no Bugle employees by the name of Parker will show up....thank GOD. THAT we DO know.

Nice find.

I was reading Ultimate Fantastic Four today, and Thanos shows up in issue #35 and mentions both the Leviathan AND the Tesseract before revealing himself. I firmly believe that Thanos is in the movie in some way. If anyone can find these pictures online/ post them that would be cool
