Marvel’s The Avengers cast mates Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo will present together on the Oscar stage, show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today. Shame they couldn't nab Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth to complete the lineup, but I guess that is an awful lot of mic time to share around! No word on which award the team will present, but here is what we do know thanks to an official press release.

“We are happy to re-unite the Avengers cast to present on our show,” said Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. “Audiences who enjoyed the year’s biggest box office hit will be excited to see these terrific actors back together again.”

Downey has twice been nominated for an Oscar, for his leading role in Chaplin (1992) and for his supporting role in Tropic Thunder (2008).

Evans, who will be making his first Oscar show appearance, will be seen in the upcoming The Iceman.

Jackson was nominated in 1994 for his supporting role in Pulp Fiction. He can also be seen in this year’s Best Picture nominee Django Unchained.

Renner was nominated for his leading role in 2009 Best Picture winner The Hurt Locker and for his supporting role in The Town (2010). Renner had roles in this year’s The Bourne Legacy and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011).

Ruffalo received his first nomination for his supporting role in 2010 Best Picture nominee The Kids Are All Right.

Oscars® for outstanding film achievements of 2012 will be presented on Oscar Sunday, February 24, at the Dolby Theatre™ at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.

@jCameron Look. You got you opinions, that's cool. That being said, some of the statements you made in this article & in other articles, you're either trying to start trouble or you come off as trying to start trouble. Seriously, why bring up MCU in a article about Doc Ock & TASM??

@jCameron if you're serious, then it's probably because Michael Bay is one of the crudest people in Hollywood- always resorting not only to sexualize every female character in any of his movies (who are somehow always less than one dimensional), his disregard of plot coherence, his inability to portray a remotely interesting story, his reliance on the worst kind of humour imaginable (see the 'robot testicles' line from Transformers 2, or the twin autobots who are clearly a racist caricature, whether he intended them to be so or not); Michael Bay's movies are incredibly stupid, and consist mainly of terrible, crude jokes, explosions and pointless action, very little plot, and attempts to offend pretty much anyone who isn't a white male.

I can understand the comparisons to Transformers that Avengers gets - they do have a heavy reliance on effects and action - but Avengers at least has plot coherence, some fairly clever humour, no pointless attempts to offend anyone, and some very good acting. Avengers at the very least has heart, that undefinable quality that makes you care, whereas all of Michael Bay's movies are completely pointless, and his idea of plot seems to be trying to push the story towards the next explosion.

I think I could guess it.

It'd be good if they appeared in an opening montage (McFarlane better not pass up the opportunity to use his skills for an opening montage).
