My theory regarding the villians in The Avengers

Yes, I know how much you people love these Loki's Army theory articles, but this one hasn't been thought of before and I'd like to share it. Now, we've heard all sorts of rumors, like Annihilus, Thanos, Annihilation Wave, Skrulls, etc.. Well, I've thought of a theory that would make all these rumors make sense.

What if the aliens are the Annihilation Wave and the villians Loki makes a deal with are Annihilus and Thanos? Why do I think this? Here are a few reasons:

1. Thanos teamed up with Annihilus during the Annihilation Wave storyline.

2. We've heard various hints and reports about Annihilus and Thanos regarding this film.

3. Tom Hiddleston said that Loki makes some deals with "gangsters" for the army. Notice, he used the plural form of "gangster", which could mean there was more than one. Who could these so called "gangsters" be? Maybe Annihilus and Thanos.

Now, if true, how do I see this playing out? Possibly like this:

1. Loki ends up in the Negative Zone after falling through that wormhole in "Thor".

2. He meets Annihilus and Thanos there and makes a deal with them to use the Annihilation Wave. Now, there was a report that Loki traded the Infinity Gauntlet for the army. This could possibly make Thanos see more potential in the Gauntlet than in the Annihilation Wave, so he de-allies himself with Annihilus to study the Gauntlet more. This would be the last we see of Thanos in the film, until something that I will mention later.

3. Loki then gets to Earth, and uses the Cosmic Cube to bring the Annihilation Wave to Earth.

4. Annihilus appears and then backstabs Loki. Loki then helps The Avengers defeat Annihilus and the Annihilation Wave.

5. Finally, either at the end of the film or after the credits, we see a glimpse of Thanos. This would be the first good look we see of him and be the only time we hear his name. I think it would be cool if he isn't mentioned by name throughout the film, and maybe just called "Annihilus' partner". He then would maybe say a few lines like he was smart to de-allie himself with Annihilus because of his failure to The Avengers. Then he would say that he has bigger things in store. This would set him up to find the Gems and become an adversary for a future film.

While having both Annihilus and Thanos in the film maybe overkill, I trust Joss will do it right if this is the case. So, what do you guys think? Would you be okay if this is the way the film is played out?

Hopefully... :) I just hope he doesn't get the gauntlet at the end o the film or in 2. I hope it introduces him in Avengers, in Avengers 2 it shows him searching for the gems, and gantlet and getting them, in Avengers 3 he gets them and uses them and the Avengers have to take him down.

I like it, but on the matter of the IG last time we saw the gauntlet it was stashed in Odins Vault, so unless Loki used his magic to conceal the gauntlet like he did for the CoAW; as you see when rips it out and freezes Heimdall and then makes it disappear again; before he fell through the wormhole then he may trade it to get an army, or otherwise it wasnt actually loki that fell through the portal but just an illusion and he just walked into the vault and took the gauntlet whilst concealling himself and used the natural portals between worlds to get where he wanted to go. just an idea. OMFG! imagine if the showed Sanctuary 2 :o I want Thanos to appear in the end credit scene followed by a trailer of all the things to come in Phase 2 XD

I like this theory. Sounds epic. The one concern I have is that in terms of story lines you don't get much bigger than the infinity gauntlet story line involving Thanos. Joss said in a recent interview that his sequel to the avengers would be smaller and more personal in a sense. More character driven. This makes me think that Thanos might not be the direction this first film is going. I suppose you could define his use of the word smaller in different ways, but it's hard to imagine how you could incorporate one of the most powerful villains in the marvel universe and make a smaller more personal story out of it. It's definitely the direction I'd like to see this going though!

My hope has always been that Loki indeed has the mind gem in his staff, and the after credits can be Thanos picking it up. In the individual movies, the after credits scenes feature Thanos finding more (example, in Thor 2 have Thor die and go to Hel, they have to use the soul gem to return him to the land of the living, Thanos steals the soul gem at the end.) This way they can weave the movies back together for Avengers 2, and Thanos can be spending the first half of the movie looking for the last one or to gems. Then in the final act, maybe he gets them (and obviously they have to tone it down for movies) and with a single thought wipes out all organic matter in every major city across the world. so they lose in avengers 2, and billions are killed, making avengers 3 have a lot of weight behind it. film 2 and 3 back to back, and release them months apart.

No, no. No Annihilus. No Annihilation Wave.

Why is it that when Annihilus. is mentioned ppl instantly think theres gonna be an annhilation wave in the Avengers movie if u recall Annihilus has appeared many times before without a huge army that spans a galaxy, he could have lent loki just a small portion of his army. Thats if he appears in the movie.

@wearethewalkingdead9 i knw that, kind of mentioned that already in my statement "whilst concealling himself and used the natural portals between worlds to get where he wanted to go." If he didnt have the gauntlet and fell through the wormhole and appeared in a dimension or realm/world foreign to him i doubt he would be able to figure out how to get to asgard again to get the gauntlet. BUT somehow he does know how to get to Earth. hmmm..

I'm sorry, I just think Annihilus and the Wave would be WAY too much to try and establish in this one film. Not happening.

I think the mystery "aliens" are the deviants. And as we all know Thanos is an Eternal with the Deviant gene.

Maybe the Eternals will be used to explain the god-like power of the Asgardians or Olympians or even Atlantis & the Inhumans...

If the Inhumans are introduced at a later date it could be an opportunity to introduce Wanda & Pietro (yeah I know they're not Inhumans) but if Marvel can't use mutants I would be prepared to accept them as Inhumans if we get them in the Avengers!!!

Regarding the Avengers if we are getting Loki & aliens in the 1st movie then you have to have something different in the sequel. I would hope for something like Hydra/AIM, with modok or returning red skull & maybe even Ultron! If Thanos is teased in the 1st movie I would expect them to do the Infinity Gauntlet at some point, maybe Avengers3. Unfortunately this leaves us without Kree/Skrulls & no Captain Mar-vell or Ms.Marvel :o(

Mind you as the Kree were supposed to have created the Inhumans maybe Captain Mar-vell could be introduced that way... :o)

So...

Avengers Assemble - 2012
Loki forms an alliance with the Deviants promising them a return to earth, betrays them & Thanos swears revenge.

Mighty Avengers - 2015
AIM sabotages Dr.Pyms new Ultron weapon project for SHIELD. Ultron takes over world computer network & threatens nuclear apocalypse using the Godseye satellite.
(Hulk is lost in space destroying it leading to a Planet Hulk movie...)

Earths Mightiest Heroes - 2018
Thanos returns with the ultimate power, the Infinity Gauntlet! The heroes of Earth must join forces with those of Asgard, Olympus, Attilan & Atlantis to stop him.
