Once again courtesy of Spidermedia, the latest promo are for next summer's The Avengers puts the spotlight on the superhero ensemble's main antagonist, Tom Hiddleston's mischief-making 'Loki.'



Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki Laufeyson), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

Looks like a gem to me. The angular shape is cut out of the staff. Could still be something based off cube "tech."

Disney fired the whole marketing team for the past Marvel films. I think we now will begin to see the difference with a new team in place, and with a lot! better promotional art for The Avengers, than for especially Thor and Iron Man.

I've been noticing a small debate on whether that stone thingy in Loki's staff is the Cosmic Cube or one of the Infinity gems and I'm going to throw out a third, more likely option.

How many times in the comics has Loki got his dirty little mitts on one of or all of the Norn Stones? I would bet it is one of them.
