And here's some fan pics taken from locals, some of whom managed to get some very good shots!

The Avengers is an upcoming American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, based upon the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which crosses over several Marvel superhero films including Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans. The Avengers is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2012 and tells the story of Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., who recruits Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America to save the world from destruction.

Development of The Avengers began when Marvel Studios received a grant from Merrill Lynch in April 2005. After the success of the film Iron Man, Marvel announced that The Avengers would be released in July 2011. With the signing of Scarlett Johansson in March 2009, the film was pushed back for a 2012 release. Whedon was brought on board in April 2010 and rewrote the screenplay that was originally written by Zak Penn. Production began in April 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico before moving to Cleveland, Ohio in August.

I keep noticing in a lot of these pics that Cap is not wearing his hemet/mask...maybe Joss decided it looked weak and found reasons for it to keep getting ripped off his face or something? (cough cough...wings...cough) Anyway, great find!

@ meatbag - Every superhero movie has the mask come off/ get ripped/ HUD style camera. Its so they can show the actor more, So you can connect with the character more. Its hard to emote when a mask is naturally giving your face a static shape.

@imnotahero, that's a good point, I should have thought of that...but I was also thinking back to a lot of promo stuff, some of the movie posters, downloadable wallpaper from marvel and such, from CATFA. A lot of it has the costume, but not the mask. And usually, like in Spiderman 1 & 2, when the hero has his mask removed, it's a big GASP moment..."will his secret ID be revealed?!?" Or it's just torn up from battling the villain. But what I was really trying to say here was that fanboy misses his wings ;)

I'm cool with caps mask being off. Steve Rogers in the comics now barely has his mask on.

I hope this is the first fight Cap has and he has his "helmet/mask" totally destroyed. Then he goes to the mask that was in the first poster released. It had seems and didn't make him look like Captain Autistic.

I like Twitter Buzz it's something different. Heck atleast it's not another freakin poll. And @LoganX35 Are you simple? It says click to make the images bigger so you can read them and that Cleveland redesigned to look like Germany.

Cleveland rocks! Coolness from Ohio. Never would have thunk it.... Anyone know why the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ended up there? Out of all the places to have this great museum I have never gotten a good explanation as to why Cleveland.
