Of course a higher-up exec will say the script is great. He said a whole lot of nothing.

Will wait and see. I imagine the show to be buffy meets the marvel universe, and you get shield.

Clark Gregg making an appearance? I thought he was starring!
And will we see Maria Hill? I LOVE me some Cobie Smulders.

Of course he did. Why wouldn't he say nice things about it? That being said, I'm actually excited to see the show

When does the pilot premier?

He might not have said it the script was "great" if Whedon had turned in something that was very different from what they expected and asked him to make revisions. He might have just said "the script is being polished" or "the script is in development", which wouldn't have raised anyone's eyebrows at this stage.

Clark Gregg is starring in the show, but Cobie Smulders is not in it, since her character will continue in the films. The pilot will almost certainly premiere in September.

Nobody says something actually interesting about this show: plot, timeline, Marvel characters, etc...

@TFA97 I'm guessing it will premire in Fall. Look for it to be like a Friday or weekend night sort-of-deal

Personally I'm extremely excited about this show. I hope that it is successfull. And a fanboy can hope that this could developed into a nerd-night with maybe a back-to-back of SHIELD and Star Wars.

StarkRaving, nah, he'd still have said it was great.

lol, a show exec. Couldn't you imagine the opposite? So pres Lee, what do you think of the new show you're putting out!? "It's meh." - said, Lee. There you have it folks, no reason to tune in! It's a good thing they have "don't trust the b in apt 23" or that network would flounder! /sarcasm

@BaneSmash Totally lol.

My concern is it has "a lot of funny male/female relationships." & with action? So it's an action comedy?

I don't think it should have too much "funny". Maybe just some light comedy could work. What is it with Marvel always trying to be so light hearted & shying away from the dark? Oh yeah that's right, Disney hates live action dark & gritty. Or don't they & I just don't know any of Disney's 'dark' projects.

All I can think of are those Pixar, animated/stop motion movies. But if they can make Animation dark then why not live action, anyone know any examples?

Doesn't that sheild logo look awfully a lot like the logo on the Hall of Justice in DREDD? Loved DREDD and looking forward to SHEILD..

I get the feeling that if this show is successful and continues after How I Met Your Mother ends this or next year, we could see Cobie Smulder transferring over to this role and Maria Hill being upgraded to a main cast member on the show. Also, is it true that Samuel L Jackson wants some kind of involvement? I heard he wanted Nick Fury to have a role similar to Charlie in Charlie's Angels.

@jphoenix667 because none of their projects so far would have fit a dark tone, nor did they need one? Not everything needs to be dark, and The Avengers certainly isn't the type of franchise you'd expect to go into 'The Dark Knight' territory. Marvel have plenty of 'dark' characters; they just haven't gotten around to using them yet.

They could really use this show to flesh out some stuff from the movie universe. Abomination in lock up? What happened to Stone's armor from Iron Man 1? Stuff like that. They could also use it to set up stuff for Phase 2. Or they could do a Warehouse 13/X-Files thing where they're coming across and covering up the existence of famous Marvel artifacts (like Thor's hammer). I'm stoked.

As usual so many of you miss the point.

Who cares if Lee said the script was "great"?

Its the fact that he's fastracking it for production that actually shows he believes in the show.

The script may be cool until Sam Jackson steps in and tells them how it's gonna be and when he wants to appear etc...

Joss Whedon has already started working on more episodes. That is fantastic. Most guys in his position would just do some work on the pilot and then move on or take a vacation. This show will rock..!
Chewtoy

You guys do know that shows at this stage aren't done deals, right? There are a bunch of new shows for next year handing in pilot scripts and only the good ones will get pilots made, let alone make it to series after that. There's no real reason to think "Of course he's going to say it's great!" when (if) he's the same guy who will look at the pilot later and have to say "Yeah, this show isn't worth a time slot" if it doesn't work.

The only reason to plug it publicly is if he really does think it's going to be a good show and so will almost definitely be on the fall schedule.

Really cannot wait for this show!

Personally, was never a fan of Buffy & never got into it, but I know it had a huge following & its fans loved it & Whedon knew what he was doing.

LOVED Firefly & Serenity.

Have high hopes & faith for this.

Like everybody else though, still hoping for some at least Cameo appearances from Super Powered Heroes & Villiains in some way or form.

Reckon they have the cash to at least pay to have 1 or 2 episode appearances every so often for the likes of Cap, Iron Man, Thor, etc?

I was hoping Cobie would get a lot of time as Maria Hill in the show & surely Sam has to have some role, it is SHIELD after all so ya kinda need Nick Fury.

I know it's not the main goal or purpose they're going for, but I hope that somewhere down the line they try to intergrate the TV Universe & the MCU together, that would be the next big ground breaking step to achieve after doing an interlocking movie universe & managing to assemble (no pun intended) the Avengers finally on the big screen.

if this show rocks they would be fools to not do some sort of Damage Control spin-off.
cleaning up the chaos, the public perspective of all these super powered catastrophes, they could use it to use as auto-viewing saps for sure.

This sounds like it will be the same style as The Avengers. Very nice.

With everyone trying to make movies and TV shows dark these days, this show will be a welcome change.

just hope there are Powered characters featured.

be them villains or extras.

i trust joss.
i just hope its not a season of shield dealing with AIM soldiers and the next is them dealing withing the resurgence of Hydra.

I'll take that happily, with good writing/acting.

but id like some hero/villains to be dealt with, if not directly on screen then within the background of the day-to-day.

I want Spider-Woman to be on the show, preferably played by Amy Acker. And the show would be a good way to reintroduce Daredevil and Elektra.
