A new clip from Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One has been released, and it takes us inside Arkham Asylum for a tense meeting between the Dark Knight, Jim Gordon, and Calendar Man.

The villainous Julian Day is clearly enjoying toying with Batman here, and that's something we spoke to actor David Dastmalchian about during a recent interview. "Julian is powerless because he’s locked away in a prison cell probably for the rest of his life," The Suicide Squad star told us, "so the opportunity to feel a sense of power and manipulation and to toy with the Caped Crusader was something to be revelled in."

It's a great clip, and you can check out our spoiler-free review of The Long Halloween here

Inspired by the classic story from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One begins as a brutal murder on Halloween prompts Gotham's young vigilante, the Batman, to form a pact with the city's only two uncorrupt lawmen (Police Captain James Gordan and District Attorney Harvey Dent) in order to take down The Roman, head of the notorious Falcone Crime Family.

However, when more deaths occur on Thanksgiving and Christmas, it becomes clear that instead of ordinary gang violence, they're also dealing with a serial killer - the identity of whom, with each conflicting clue, grows harder to discern. Few cases have ever tested the wits of the World's Greatest Detective like the mystery behind the Holiday Killer.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the all-new feature-length Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One arrives on Digital & Blu-ray on June 22, 2021.

After watching this clip, I know that Jensen Ackles is the perfect voice for Batman and David Dastmalchian is always great.

@Repian - Exactly! It's so deep & ominous. I love Batman voices like his. They really need to let him do it more often.

This is exactly how I feel about Jeremy Sisto in the JL: The New Frontier.

Ackles already seems like he could be top 5 in the Batman voice game.

Love Dastmalchian‘s Calendar Man take

Really liking the feel of it. I’m one that gets annoyed when they don’t keep the visual style of the book they’re adapting but this looks really good. Voice cast is great.

Cast is great.

I’d love to see a live action Calendar Man done the same way. Played by Lance Reddick. While we’re at it, Killer Moth re-written as the Moth-man Killer could be insane and Mad Hatter also has real-world vibes that are sickening and terrifying. Jane Doe is another one. I’d love the new Batman to tackle them
