The origins of the Caped Crusader of Gotham City are finally brought to the big screen in this new adaptation of the perennially popular comic-book series. The young Bruce Wayne (Gus Lewis) leads a privileged life as the son of wealthy, philanthropist parents, both of whom stress their commitment to improving the lives of the citizens of crime-ridden Gotham City. After his mother and father are murdered by a mugger, however, Wayne grows into an impudent young man (Christian Bale), full of rage and bent on retribution until encouraged by his childhood sweetheart, Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes), to search for answers beyond his own personal vendettas. Wayne eventually finds discipline in the Far East under the tutelage of Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson), a member of the mysterious League of Shadows who guides him in the study of martial arts -- and the ways in which an ordinary man can hone his senses to an almost superhuman acuity. After seven years away from Gotham, Wayne returns, determined to bring peace and safety back to the city. With the help of his faithful manservant, Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine), and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), a scientist at his late father's corporation, Wayne develops a secret identity as Batman, a masked fighter for justice. But when a shady psychiatrist (Cillian Murphy) joins forces with the criminal underworld, Wayne realizes that putting an end to their nefarious plans will be very difficult indeed. Batman Begins also features Gary Oldman as Lt. James Gordon and Tom Wilkinson as the crime boss Carmine Falcone.

Nolans trilogy is probably the best CBM trilogy out there.

@ Pasto

Yup best CBM Trilogy hand down, IM had a chance to take that crown but failed with IM2 and IM3. Oh well soon that spot may go to Avengers.

HAHA this was hilarious! I still remember being in theaters and going nuts when this movie came out!

@batmaniac I definitely agree w/you. I loved bb, but still gotta say I thought TDK and TDKR were better.

Batman Begins = Good

The Dark Knight = Incredible

The Dark Knight Rises = Snoozefest (I went to the midnight screening, fell asleep halfway, walked out of the theater trying to convince my girlfriend that it was awesome. Took my nephews the following Sunday to see it, they all fell a sleep. But I did watch it this time, laughing my ass off at Bane and Batman voices and the stupid plot. The only movie that disappointed me more was that Space Jesus movie...what was it...oh yeah, Man Of Steel.)

The Dark Knight Trilogy is only the best trilogy so far because Spiderman 3 sucked ass. TDKR sucked, but atleast emo Bruce Wayne was more sympathetic then emo Peter Parker who was just funny.

Batman Begins is actually my favorite of the trilogy, but we're NOT gonna get into that here, now, are we AnnoDomini?

But see, when you troll like that, it invites others to go ham. I mean, you claim I'm blinded by my hate (sounds like something out of Star Wars), yet you bring up the Avengers and Iron Man as if they're relevant here. Can't we like both?

Heh, takes me back to this one time about a year ago...
So this newly promoted manager has to deal with his two exes.... both of whom WORK AT THE SAME FREAKIN STORE!!!! At the same time. In the same department! It's like they tried so hard to tough it out, to be mature, to have fortitude and take the higher road... and then he became the manager and was stupid enough to put the two in one place together.

Juan, when are you gonna send me on break? How come she gets a break first when she's already gone out for a smoke? Who's doing dishes? How come I have to do it when I'm closing and she's just standing there doing nothing?!

lmao... it was one for the books.
That's not how it's gotta be here though, right? You're better than that, right AnnoDomini?

17 people made comments about a trilogy that everyone makes fun of as being a bad comic book movie, except these 17 who liked it.

Aside from the richest man in Gotham somehow was able to sign away all his worldly positions without even needing to be in the bank to sign it away and only needed fingerprints (my god, this is a fantasy bank all right) or the magic rope (WW's lasso?) and brick that fixes broken backs or the poor, homeless man who made it from a middle east prison back into a city with 1 entrance and no one saw him (Flash?), Batman Begins was a great movie. The Dark Knight was made great due to Heath Ledger's performance, The Dark Knight Rises was a poorly written, poorly directed piece of garbage.

This has nothing to do with Nolan...well it does, but it's more like why he would have ok'd TDKR with it being that bad. Nolan is a great movie maker, but not a great comic book movie maker.

This isn't Batman hating either, I have been a Superman fan since before I can walk, and was over 40 years ago. I have a Superman Poster on my wall and varies memorabilia For him...After the Zack Snyder garbage, I am betting on Batman to kick his ass in the BvS movie.

TDK trilogy is still the only good CBM trilogy to date. Spider-Man 3 dropped the ball, Last Stand dropped the ball, Ironman 3 (and 2 was barely passable) dropped the ball and the same with Superman 3. Nolan's the best thing to happen to the genre for actually pulling it off.

I Find Batman Begins as the best SUPER HERO ORIGIN MOVIE!! It was so well made with the source material and was every thing a fan would want to see!

The Nolan trilogy was great. I feel, however, that TDKR was the weakest of the three (some parts disappointed me but, overall, still a decent film). Begins was great and TDK was INCREDIBLE!!

TDKR was definitely the worst of the 3.
Begins and TDK were great, although they should have gotten a damn fight choreographer because those fight scenes were terrible AND used too much close up shaky cam.
No comic book film has a good 3rd installment for some reason.
Hopefully Captain America is the one to do it or Avengers for that matter.
Amazing Spider-Man might do it but i'm really doubting it.

TDK > TDKR > BB

and BB is Atleast as good as 99% of the other CBM

@Godzilla
I feel a need to have with discussion with you....
There isn't anything wrong with Batman Begins, you hate it I understand but you don't ever give reasons why. So I'm asking, WHAT DO YOU FEEL IS SO TERRIBLE ABOUT BATMAN BEGINS??

Also, you say "no thinking person would have this in their top 10@
Yeah I'm meh about a lot of movies, TASM for example I don't care for overall but I don't go around trashing it at every chance and I don't treat the fans of it as if they are inferior....

But yeah IMHO BB beats every CBM ever except for TDK and S-M2. I think those three are equal but I like Batman Begins the most of the three.

Batman Begins is the best of TDK trilogy...
The best Batman movie ever...
The best comic book movie ever....

I'm not trying to start anything but sometimes I see you hating BB and it seems that you don't ever give any support as to why....

TDKR was very good at the start of the movie, and very good at the end. The middle, however, completely sucked, which keep it from being rated that high for me. The whole Bane storyline about bankrupting Bruce, converting the fusion reactor into a bomb, holding the city hostage, etc. was just beyond dumb. And since I can't rate this film that high, I can't rate the trilogy that high. I would probably place it just slightly higher than Iron Man. Batman Begins and the first Iron Man basically tie. TDK is far above Iron Man 2 (I like IM 2, but TDK is just much better.) IM 3 is better than TDKR though, although not by as much as TDK beats IM 2, so the TDK trilogy is ranked slightly higher for me. I anticipate, however, that Avengers and Capt. America will eventually have trilogies that will surpass it (Thor has no chance, as TDW was just not very good at all.)

As for the Hishe, I was kinda disappointed. They have done much better in the past.
