Jim Carrey Would Be Down To Play 'The Riddler' Again In A New BATMAN Film

Jim Carrey, who had a memorable turn as the Riddler in Batman Forever, has said that he's not against returning to the role even though he doubts his iteration would suit the new edgier DCCU. He also talks about his desire to work with Chris Nolan again. Come check it out!

In a new interview, Dumb and Dumber To star Jim Carrey answered a question about whether or not he'd want to reprise the role of the Riddler in a future Batman film. While he admits that his iteration of the character probably wouldn't fit in the world that the upcoming slate of DC films is building, he does say he'd be up to give it a go again if asked. Carrey also touches on his desire to work with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight trilogy) again after their Howard Hughes-biopic failed to see the light of day. Check out the interview below!

The Dark Knight is back on the big screen for the third feature in the blockbuster Batman series ... now battling two supervillains simultaneously--but this time joined by his protégé, Robin, to protect Gotham City. Jim Carrey stars as criminal genius, The Riddler, and Tommy Lee Jones plays Two-Face. Together, these criminal kingpins present a threat that only the Dynamic Duo--Batman (Val Kilmer) and Robin (Chris O'Donnell)--can stop. And Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman comes to Gotham as the alluring Dr. Chase Meridian, who may steal the heart of Batman Forever.

Batman Forever featured:
Director: Joel Schumacher
Val Kilmer as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Tommy Lee Jones as Harvey Dent/Two-Face
Jim Carrey as Dr. Edward Nygma/Riddler
Nicole Kidman as Dr. Chase Meridian
Chris O'Donnell as Dick Grayson/Robin
Michael Gough as Alfred Pennyworth
Pat Hingle as Commissioner James Gordon
Drew Barrymore as Sugar
Debi Mazar as Spice

Oddly enough I'm not against this. Just give him a good script.

I was just re-watching Batman Forever on Netflix, and it is actually watchable (especially Kilmer's Bruce Wayne) but Carrey is the worst part of that movie besides Chris O' Donnell.

@Jollem Oh damn, I almost forgot about the fact that I actually despise him for the greed-based comments.

Riddler isn't really a violent character. So I could see Jim playing the dude again.

Yeah Batman Forever gets a bad rap, but I think it's actually a better movie than Batman Returns.

@Pigdango Same, I actually started re-watching BR because (for whatever reason) I thought it was going to be great, but I just couldn't get through the first 30 minutes. Burton's first Batman is probably my favorite so far.

"Batman Forever" is The Best Batman movie ever made! My favorite!

@Jollem Agreed, he just took the money and backtracked on the entire movie to look like the good guy, which actually makes me dislike him as a person (obviously not actually knowing him).

@Sipprelle I agree with the Val Kilmer comment, I thought he did very well. The rest of the film however was not on the same par as Kilmer's performance.

Not a big Carrey fan after the crap he pulled after Kick-Ass 2. The only thing I would be super excited to see Carrey do, is hosting SNL. He was so damn funny in In Living Color.

Carrey is a great Canadian, funny as hell, and...yeah, that's all I got.

He was easily my favourite part of Batman Forever, so I would watch him again. But his style wouldn't fit in the DCCU.

Make him Carnage, Sony! Do it now!

I like Carrey, I still don't know why he took the stance he did for Kick Ass 2, but Carrey is still awesome

I would watch him play The Mask again, that movie still holds up

Eh. Batman Forever was an okay movie, not as good as the previous 2 but certainly much better than the one that followed after.

It's too bad that him and TLJ's Two-Face were basically Joker-lite. I'd be up for him getting another shot as a proper Riddler but personally:

NPH for Riddler.

Boom.

@Sipprelle what I found jarring about Batman Returns was how small the movie felt compared with Burton's first Batman. There were several press conferences that were held in small confined spaces with like a dozen extras standing there. That and Batman did all his "Detectiving" by watching TV. It was unbelievably bad.

Nice try, Carrey, but we all know that Sharlto Copley will be the next Riddler.

@ManCalledSting

We'll take him back, you guys just make sure to keep Bieber. I think it's a fair trade. And yeah, he'd never do Carnage...but he's still the best fan cast in history.

@DrKinsolving

Yes, I would love it if he came back to make another Mask movie. And, I've been saying for months, WB should look at doing a Mask TV series. I think it would do a lot better than a dumbass Supergirl show.

Watch the Batman Forever Red Book Edition. Its pretty much what Shumacher intended his whole Batman series to be until WB savaged into by basically cutting out all the good stuff. It really delves into why Bruce Wayne becomes Batman and treats him a lot more like a character instead of a dude in a suit as the Burton movies did.
