This is movie will be about a character not very familiar with casual fans the story of the Red Hood and Batman is a great story if told the right way on screen. I won’t bore you with details but Red Hood aka Jason Todd was the 2nd Robin he was taken in by Batman after Dick Grayson became Nightwing. He was ruthless and rouge at times and after his “death” rose again to become Red Hood He comes back with the help of an unlikely source seeking revenge on Batman and to what is necessary even kill to protect the city. This movie should pick-up after Grayson left to join The Team (Young Justice). Without further ado is my cast.
Reintroducing
Jim Caviezel as Bruce Wayne/Batman
I have expressed why I choose Caviezel (see Justice League Cast) as Batman. To recap, he already plays a similar character on Person of Interest and has range as an actor. He looks the part and possesses the ideal skill set. People will bash this pick because it’s “original” but he is who I think will play the best Batman. For this movie he will be not only fighting a former protégé but mentoring a new one as well in Tim Drake.
Liam Cunningham as Alfred Pennyworth
Cunningham serves as one of many options for Alfred. I chose him because of his role in Game of Throne (recommended MUST WATCH) as Davoa Seaworth as trusted advisor to Stannis Baratheon. One the show he is loyal yet outspoken, he is gentle yet tough which are all the qualities I want Alfred to have in order to keep Bruce Wayne in line.
Denzel Washington as Lucius Fox
(See Batman Cast) Washington does not do mny if any sequels but I am hoping that the film would be so successful and so intriguing that he will return. In my imaginary world he does reprise his role as Lucius Fox.
Bryan Cranston as James Gordon
(See Batman Cast) Gordon will do all he can to help find those responsible for the death of Jason Todd.
Olivia Wilde as Catwoman
For the reasons why I chose her see my Batman cast. For this movie she will be of assistance to the Bat Family as they battle multiple enemies throughout the movie
Emma Watson as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl
Batgirl is not conventional but she is part of the family and will be used as an ancillary character to fight off members of the league of Shadows.
Introducing
Giancarlo Esposito as Ra’s al Ghul
Ghul is one of Batman’s greatest nemeses and the leader of the Shadows. He is intimidating and imposing with his vast knowledge and life experience. He has lived for 100s of years by sustaining life using the Lazarus Pit. He is an international terrorist that comes in conflict with many DC heroes including Superman. Esposito was the selection because of his portrayal as Gus on Breaking Bad. He was a quiet psycho who was also very intimidating. Ghul would be puppet master pulling the strings.
Rosario Dawson as Talia al Ghul
Talia is a former lover of Batman and the daughter of Ra’s. She helps Red Hood through his trying time as his life slowly leaves his body. She will be a main antagonist along with her father and Red Hood. I chose Dawson because she looks the part. I feel that she is perfect for the role especially with her performance as Persephone in Percy Jackson the Lightening Thief
Randy Couture Ubu
Ubu is a great assassin and the loyal bodyguard of Ra’s al Ghul. Couture is trying his hand at acting and is solid as an action star starring in both Expendables films as Toll Roll.
Ezra Miller as Red Hood/Jason Todd
Red Hood is the main villain and the most important piece to this story. If told correctly he can be a fantastic villain for Batman. He and Batman were often at odds because of the way Todd handled situations. He was often aggressive, could not control his temper, and handled criminals violently to the disappointment of Batman. Todd would be difficult even for Wayne to handle but he would still accept him into his home and as his sidekick. During a mission Red Hood was seemingly murdered and by all means dead. He was buried and Wayne did what he could to cope. He later took in Tim Drake and took care of him Hood would be revived by Talia and seek revenge on his former mentor and the man responsible for killing him taking on the alias Red Hood. Miller is an up and coming actor who I think can use this role to propel him into the right direction.
Josh Hutcherson as Nightwing/Dick Grayson
(See Young Justice and Batman) Hutcherson would be an older wiser superhero veteran debuting as Nightwing to help bring down Jason Todd aka Red Hood.
Adrien Brody as The Joker
The Joker is a controversial character to add because Heath Ledger set the bar so high in TDK returns. However he is responsible for the death of Jason Todd and the story cannot be told if he is not a part of it. I know I am going to get all kinds of flack regardless of the actor I selected to play Joker. Heath Ledger was not well received but we all know how that turned out. But Adrien Brody is an excellent actor with a wide range (see. The Pianist, Splice, Predators, The Experiment). I think he could bring out the best of the Joker’s psychotic sadistic side. If you have no seen him in more than one movie please check him out and you will see why I chose him.
Leo Howard as Tim Drake
Leo is the best fit for Tim Drake who eventually becomes the 3rd Robin. Leo is known as Jack from Kickin It where he displays his martial arts skills and his charismatic personality is on full display. He also played a young Snake Eyes on both GI Joe movies. Drake should make a brief appearance in this movie, a little more than a cameo.
Chris Nolan series is over and I think some of his darkness along with some light heartedness should be used. Batman should be an extraordinary hero in a regular world. Meaning all that we love about Batman should be in this world not in a world that is so realistic it takes the comic book fun and feel from the movie. There it is the 2nd installment of Batman and Phase 5 of my DC Universe. As always feel free to leave comments and stay tuned.
