Batman to focus on Under the Red Hood allegedly, My Reaction

I’m salivating after reading some crazy news. Ok maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but still this pretty cool. I probably shouldn’t be so excited rumors, I have been let down before. Like back in high school when I was told this girl I liked I had a crush on me too. Imagine my disappointment when I found out it was the other Michael. Anywho, information on Ben Aflleck’s first solo film leaked. I’m sitting on edge as I type this from excitement. Anyone who is a fan of Batman and the growing Bat Family is in for a pretty good surprise. Beware this may contain some SPOILERS.

Rumor has it the DC has made Jason Todd/Red Hood formerly known as Robin a “Priority.” This information is coming form JoBlo, the same online source that broke news regarding a possible Wonder Woman plot. Anywho, it is said that Ben Affleck is not only directing, but he is working with Geoff Johns on the script as well. The material source will be based on the Death in the Family and Under the Red Hood storyline from the comics. If you aren’t familiar with Jason Todd’s story here is some quick info.

Potential Look for Jason Todd
Potential Look for Jason Todd

Jason Todd was the 2nd Robin after Dick Grayson departed. Long story short Jason Todd was killed by the Joker and raised from the dead via the Lazarus Pit. He then took on the moniker “Red Hood” previously used by the Joker before he became the monster we know and love. Red Hood went on to become a very popular vigilante/anti hero.

JoBlo had this to say about potential plot details, "According to our sources, the basic plotline of Affleck’s solo Batfilm is that Jason Todd has returned from the grave as the Red Hood, working in the shadows to make people think he's Batman, while making Batman look like a criminal. At the same time he leaves clues about his identity for Bruce/Batman to ultimately solve, leading to a confrontation that will involve Batman, Red Hood, and yes, The Joker, who will feature as a primary villain alongside Red Hood."

If that wasn’t enough, Dick Grays is allegedly already Nightwing, and there may be a cameo and/or reference in Batman v Superman movie. Naturally in this solo Nighwing should team up Batman to take on Joker and Red Hood. This also sounds a lot like the animated movie Under the Re Hood which I believe would be an excellent source for Ben Affleck’s solo film. Well that’s the news. C'mon people please leave your comments, like and share I want to be popular.

So I take it you only watch the animated movies and don't read comics? Because Jason wasn't brought back to life with the Lasarus Pit...

1) This sounds WAY too close to the animated film to be legitimate, and

2) Roven and Affleck both suggested that they are only at the place of trying to figure out if there is room in Affleck's schedule and the DC EU schedule to fit in a Batman film.

So these rumors are no different than the Man of Steel 2 and Han Solo spinoff rumors: premature and ultimately wrong.

I think the Lazarus Pit explanation is better than the Retcon Punch though, or they just should have kept it a mystery

1) They are not gonna just make a live-action version of already existing animated movie, even if they do use partly same source material.

2) These rumors and your own speculations hardly qualify as spoilers.

@Odin

Actually, these could qualify as spoilers if the movies do end up taking inspiration from those comics

In the same way that TDKReturns, which also has an animated feature could qualify as spoiling certain aspects of Batman v Superman

Actually when Snyder first announced Batman v Superman he used a direct quote from TDKReturns

"I want you to remember, Clark…in all the years to come…in your most private moments…I want you to remember…my hand…at your throat…I want…you to remember…the one man who beat you."

@ManCalledSting - I highly doubt they go the route Superboy Prime Punch. I am sure they will use the approach of the Death in A Death in the Family where Joker killed Todd and Sheila Haywood (who is his biological mother) after he beat Todd down and left the two in the warehouse. The latter is more practical and makes for a better story.

@ManCalledSting - What you are referring to is the alternate reality or time line, which I think is kid of weird to make into a movie.

@CorndogBurglar - You mean it wasn't the Lazarus Pit that hilled him after the altered Superboy-Prime story? Where Talia saves his life and dips into the Pit along with her father who happened to bathing in it at the same time. Crap, my bad.

@Odin - If I insinuated in anyway that they should outright copy the animated film my bad, but based on the rumors it is suggesting they are incorporating the A Death in the Family, Under the Hood, and the Under the Red Hood storylines as source material. I think they are smart in doing so, like they did with Suicide Squad and Assault on Arkham. If you check out my Fan Cast you will see my take involves much more than the animated film being adapted to a live action version.

@Odin - if any of this is turns out to be true then this article would have spoiled it for some. Especially those who haven't seen Under the Red Hood.

@DrKinsolving - couldn't have said it better myself. I was just being cautious more so for those who haven't seen Under the Red Hood.

@EricBorder - I think he was just mistaken. The Superboy-Prime was lame, so I like how they mixed up the events of A Death in the Family with the SB-Prime Lazarus Pit story for Under the Red Hood.
