How they should carry on with the Joker (a fanboys wetdream)

How I feel they end The Dark Knight Rises

So I was thinking... The Dark Knight was brilliant, some of you may disagree and some of you may tell me to go shove my head up an apes ass, however from me speaking I thought it was simply brilliant. One thing I love more than anything is continuity... it makes me feel safe at night knowing that when I wake up I will still be as much of a loser as am I right now. So for continuity's sake if The Batman does continue his crusade at films end this is how I imagine it happening.

We have some Jim Gordon voiceover work just like at the end of The Dark Knight, it goes to the theme of how Gotham needs Batman and how he is there to look after the citizens and all that minty stuff. As this voiceover work is played you see simple intertwined shots, of Batman fighting crime aka busting Scarecrows head in, then another scene/shot him busting Zsasz, and the final shot of the Joker walking into a cab... just his feet though (you would know it was the joker due to the peculiar socks that he wears.) I think this would be money... The way i see it in my head I think it would look brilliant but thats just me...(lifts meth pipe to inhale)

What do you fine people think?

Good thinking. Too bad considering Batman's crusade most likely ends in this film. But like you said, "a fanboy's wetdream".

I really hope that Nolan puts some sort of Joker cameo in the film just to give his fans some care. This is a good idea.

A simple shot of him in Arkham is enough I think.

Now that is most certainly a great idea but as Despero quoted "But like you said, "a fanboy's wetdream"."

Not a bad idea. Here's another...

Imagine that Nolan cut a scene from TDK, say the entire Ferry scene, and introduced the 3rd movie with this as the opening scene & kept it all secret. Viewers would be amazed. It would be the equivalent of bringing Heath back from the dead, one more time. And the instant buzz would easily make the third a much bigger movie.

The last movie was 2 and a half hours, so there were plenty of scenes to pick from.

the joker will return in the batman reboot that is the only time you'll see him.

I think a better ending would be if you end with batman being the hero and have a monologue from Gordon, and then you here over the police radio that there is a break out in Arkham and then all you hear is Heath's laugh.

@Madmex: Well said, I like that. Anyone else think Harvey should've lived?

Thanks guys. Although the idea is entirely hypothetical. Either Nolan kept extra footage or he didn't. Was the Ferry scene amazing footage back in 2008? Definitely. Would it have been more valuable in 2012? Without a doubt. TDK could have done without that scene & it wouldn't have altered the movie that much.

Mate, if only.

Heres an idea though. A dark cell, Batman goes to pay Joker a visit at some point in the film. When the conversation gets heated he pulls Joker into the light and realises that it is an impostor and he has escaped.

Killing Joke reference and in my opinion an elegant way to solve the Joker cameo problem.

God no. Enough of TDK and it's version of Joker, enough of Joker period. But it's great that you speak your mind without stepping on others.

agreed. just some kind of reference of joker in Arkham.. He's too important to the Batman story to just get captured at the end of TDK and never be spoken of again.
