JOKER: First Teaser Trailer Sees Things Get Seriously Sinister For The Clown Prince Of Crime's Origin Story

Warner Bros. has released the first teaser trailer for Joker and, well, it's fair to say that this is going to be a DC Comics adaptation like no other! Seriously, things get weird, and you can see it here!

As promised, the first teaser trailer for Joker is here and it definitely appears as if Warner Bros. is taking the Clown Prince of Crime down a very unusual route for this origin story.

Running a full two and a half minutes, the sneak peek sheds a lot of light on what leads to Arthur Fleck's descent into madness and it's clear that Joaquin Phoenix is giving it his all here, as he looks genuinely terrifying and appears to have lost a lot of weight in order to make his version of the iconic Batman villain as haunting as possible.

There are a lot of intriguing shots here, including what appears to be a meeting between The Joker and a young Bruce Wayne. Honestly, despite all those rumours, it seems we may not know as much about this one as we thought!

We'll have more for you on Joker later today, but check out the trailer below in the meantime.

Like I said, this trailer was going to make or break my interest in this movie.. and I have to say: it definitely has me intrigued now. I still don't really like the idea of an Joker origin story, BUT, Joaquin Phoenix is a fantastic actor and it looks like he's going to be incredible. It feels like a Elseworlds story to be honest, kinda like the Gotham tv show. Just an original, different take on the character. Based off on this trailer, I'm going to give the movie a chance in theaters.

Looks fantastic!! It would be super far fetched. But if this took place in the 80s and the Batman served as a semi follow up in the 90s that would be terrific. But I dont see that happening.

Warner Bros is doing something different here and I love it.

@TheRationalNerd -
Bruce Wayne is a kid in this movie and his parents are alive, so that's unfortunately impossible.

@Darkknight2149 - Ahhhhhh I see. Wow, well hey it will at least be a cool stand alone I suppose.

@Darkknight2149 - Not technically impossible if this takes place in 1981 and Batman in 1999.

@Ayush -
They're making a Batman film in the 1990s, and even using a retro logo. So it's definitely not in the last year of the 90s. That's practically 2000 at that point.

No surprise that Joaquin Phoenix looks like he's going to do a great job here

This did absolutely nothing for me, which was weird because I was really ready for it too after hearing reactions yesterday. Obviously zero context for the actual story, but it literally feels like arthouse Venom, a painfully generic vehicle for a great actor to just go wild in
