JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX - [SPOILER] Burns In New Set Photos And Video From Upcoming DC Sequel

New photos and videos from the set of Todd Phillips' Joker: Folie à Deux have been revealed, and a key comic book location from the comics is shown burning, hinting at a big development for Arthur Fleck.

Cameras are still rolling on Joker: Folie à Deux in the New York area, and some photos and videos taken by fans reveal Arkham Asylum going up in flames!

We've previously heard that the sequel will take place primarily in the Asylum, with Fleck meeting a kindred spirit in fellow patient Harley Quinn. That's a departure from the comic books, but we're not exactly surprised considering the fact 2019's Joker was very much an Elseworlds story as well.

However, after seeing Lady Gaga's Harley in Gotham City robbing a store and Arthur Fleck being pursued by apparent visions of himself, Arthur Fleck and Harleen Quinzel will clearly break free at some point.

That might just be what we're seeing here, with the duo burning down the Asylum on their way out.

It's going to be interesting to find out where filmmaker Todd Phillips is actually taking this franchise. Bruce Wayne's parents were gunned down by a man dressed like a clown, and the stage was set for him to also go off the deep end and become a "Batman" eager to take his revenge on Fleck.

We're guessing it's still a little too soon for that, but have no doubt Joker: Folie à Deux will have some surprises in store for us. As the only DC movie being released in 2024, expectations are high and Warner Bros. is surely banking on this being a huge critical and commercial hit that helps usher in DC Studios' new era of storytelling with the DCU.

Unfortunately, the movie is still a long way off, and outside of the handful of photos shared by Phillips on social media, we're not anticipating an official first look for a while yet.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to be released in theaters on October 4, 2024, exactly five years after Joker debuted.

"Warner Bros. is surely banking on this being a huge critical and commercial hit that helps usher in DC Studios' new era of storytelling with the DCU."

I think this actually ends WB's era of storytelling. The DC Studios era begins with Superman: Legacy.

Would be really weird to begin with an Elseworlds movie.

Also, this was in production before James Gunn and Peter Safran were hired, it's a Mike De Luca/Pam Abdy production for WB Pictures.
