More photos from the set of Joker: Folie à Deux have found their way online, this time offering a much closer look at Arthur Fleck's (Joaquin Phoenix) apparent return to Gotham City.
As many of you recently theorised, the deranged Clown Prince of Crime is seemingly being pursued by two past versions of himself, including the "final" Joker who gunned down that talk show host and sent Gotham spiralling into madness. One of them even gets hit by a car, potentially echoing a key scene in 2019's Joker.
While it's safe to assume those other Jokers are in Arthur's mind, what we don't know is whether he's actually managed to escape the confines of Arkham Asylum at this point.
We'd previously heard that the sequel will take place primarily in the Asylum, with Fleck meeting a kindred spirit in fellow patient Harley Quinn. That's a change from the comic books, but one that was to be expected considering the fact the first instalment was very much an Elseworlds story as well.
What we're particularly curious about is where filmmaker Todd Phillips is actually taking this franchise. Bruce Wayne's parents were gunned down by a man dressed like a clown, so the stage is surely being set for him to go off the deep end and become a Batman who looks to take his revenge on Fleck.
We'll see, but seeing as this movie is still a long way off, we're not anticipating an official first look for a while yet.
Joker: Folie à Deux is set to be released in theaters on October 4, 2024, exactly five years after Joker debuted.
