Joker: Folie à Deux director Todd Phillips told us it'd probably be a while before we got a look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn back when he debuted a promo image of Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck, but that first glimpse might be just 'round the corner.
Gaga was nominated for an Oscar for her Top Gun: Maverick theme song "Hold My Hand," and took to Instagram to thank the Academy and her fans, while confirming that she's currently on the set of her next movie.
"Thank you so much to the Academy for nominating my song 'Hold My Hand' for an Oscar this year!," she captioned her post. "Writing this song for the film Top Gun: Maverick was a deep and powerful experience that I will never forget. So grateful for the magic of music and cinema."
"Love you my co-writer Bloodpop... I'm on set filming now, big love to little monsters!"
Just in case there was any confusion about which project she's shooting, Gaga signed off with a Joker playing card emoji.
This obviously doesn't confirm that a first look at Gaga's take on Harley Quinn is imminent, but we'd say there's a decent chance Phillips will share an official look before the spy snappers beat him to it!
Plot details are still mostly under wraps, but we do know that the majority of the film will take place in Arkham Asylum, and contain significant "musical elements." A recent rumor also suggested that Quinn will have a bigger role than originally reported, with the story playing out entirely from her perspective.
Joker: Folie à deux is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024.
