With Warner Bros. gearing up to commence production on Todd Phillips' Joker origin movie in just a few short weeks, Film Music Reporter has learned that the studio has tapped Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir to score the standalone feature.
Guðnadóttir is best known for composing the score for Stefano Sollima's Sicario: Day of the Soldado. Her other work includes Baltasar Kormákur's The Oath and she collaborated with the late Jóhann Jóhannsson (Sicario; Arrival) on Garth Davis' Mary Magdalene. She's also a classically trained cellist and has contributed to the scores for Prisoners, Sicario, The Revenant, and Arrival.
Joker stars 3x Academy Award-nominee Joaquin Phoenix (Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot) in the title role with a supporting cast that will feature Primetime Emmy-nominee Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Golden Globe-winner Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), Marc Maron (GLOW), Josh Pais (Ray Donovan), and 2x Academy Award-winner Robert De Niro (The Irishman).
Plot details remained locked away at Arkham Asylum.
