The Toronto International Film Festival has officially announced the movies that will premiere as part of the Gala and Special Presentations programmes, and Todd Philips'
Joker is among them.
We had been led to believe that the standalone origin story for the deranged Batman villain would first screen at the Venice Film Festival which gets underway late next month, and while that's still a possibility, North American fans hoping to get an early look at the controversial film will have to wait a little longer as TIFF kicks-off on September 5.
Other movies featured as part of the Gala Presentation include Rian Johnson’s
Knives Out, Noah Baumbach’s
Marriage Story, Steven Soderbergh’s
The Laundromat and James Mangold’s
Ford v Ferrari. You'll find a full rundown right
here.

Joker before it hits theaters on October 4? Drop us a comment down below, and have a scroll through some hi-res screengrabs from the first trailer.
