Well well, it seems the rumors were true: Josh Brolin -- an actor I think many more fans would have rallied behind if he'd got the role -- was indeed in the running to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in the
Man Of Steel sequel. In an interview with The Huffington Post, the
No Country For Old Men star says that
he didn't actually have any conversations about it, but suggests that director Zack Snyder wanted him for the part. When asked if he'd had any discussions with Snyder about it, Brolin responds,
"We did. I didn't have conversations about it, but Zack, that was part of his idea. It just didn't turn out. It's OK. It is OK. You know, another scenario might have worked better, but I'm happy for Ben." Brolin was definitely a very popular choice when his name was rumored along with several others to be in contention for the role, but "Batfleck" has obviously received a much more mixed reaction. What are Brolin's thoughts on that?
"I've never seen such a global reaction in my life," he says.
"I feel for him, truly. I would not want to be him right now. The reaction becomes so personal. It's like, '[frick] this guy, I wish he was dead.' And you're like, 'What? Dude, seriously? This guy is just working like you are. He's doing the same thing you are. He's trying to make the best choices he can.'" Brolin then echoes what quite a few of us have been thinking/hoping..that Affleck goes on to knock it out of the park and deliver the goods as Batman;
"I want him to kick ass and I want everyone to love it and kind of eat their words."
