Batman 3, Is The Question the answer?

Batman 3, Is The Question the answer?

Weve had rumors of Cher as Catwomen, Shia labouf as Robin and now Eddie bleedin Murphy as the Riddler! But i think what Batman may need is not only a good villain..but maybe some new blood to bounce off...

Ok so im well aware that this will never happen! But i love the Question and think it would be great to see him in his own movie. But because its all the rage now for characters to have bit parts in other heroes movies first, i figured why not Batman.

The Question (Vic Sage) was originally a minor Charlton comics character but when DC aquired the rights they gave him his own acclaimed solo series in 1987 written by Dennis Oneil. In the Oneil series, Victor Sage is an investigative reporter for the news station KBEL in Hub City, who uses the identity of the Question to get the answers his civilian identity cannot. Unlike other vigilante superheroes, O'Neil's Question is primarily focused on the politics of his city, and rather than hunting down the perpetrators of petty theft, he tends to fight the corrupt government of Hub City. O'Neil's Hub City is noted as being "synonymous with venality, corruption, and violence", perhaps even outranking Gotham City as the most dismal city in the DC Universe.

After the events of Final CRises when Batman dissapears, The Question Takes over as Gothams protector. Theres your story! While Batman is being hunted down the citizens are naturally going to look for somebody to keep the streets free of crime. At some point in the story this will of course bring them into conflict..thats about all i have! I havnt thought out the whole movie yet but i just think adding him in there is a great way to expand Nolans world to include some other elements of the DC universe.

The Question appeared on the excellent Justice league unlimited cartoon in which he was a major recurring character. He was at times the comic relief but could turn deadly serious. In this hes portrayed as a completely obsessive, darkly comic loner — skeptical, eccentric, paranoid, antagonistic and somewhat unpredictable. He is given to believing in conspiracy theories and is suspicious of even his fellow League members; despite this (or perhaps because of it), he is one of the Justice League's best detectives. At one point, he mentions that Supergirl eats peanut butter sandwiches before going to bed, to which she asks him whether he goes through her trash: he responds, "Please... I go through everyone's trash." This is the Question i would love to see up there on the big screen with Batman. As much as i love Nolans movies, nobody can deny that they could use a sense of humour..at least a black one!

Casting wise i havnt really thought about it. Thats my friend Shamans thing!

Anyway, if you have never heard of THe Question or read his stuff i urge you to do so, you wont be dissapointed. And please let me know what you think of my idea to include him in a Batman movie..yes, even if its that im a nutcase!

You are somewhat of a nut Ror. But I do like your comments and charatcer choice. PLUS, your Irish, that gives you alot of coll points in my book. OH, is Ireland as beautiful as I picture? Or, even more so? My father went there for his Honeymoon, loved it.

ANYWAY, enough of that. I like the Question, he's (or she) always been a good way to portray that conspiracy theorist, odd ball, funny but like you said, deadly serious character. JLU is awesome in ALL respects BTW. So, if were up to me, between you and SHAMAN, you'd guys would definitely be on my crew of people for the GL movie, with your pics of cast and character choice abilities, id have faith in you for sure. Well done sir.

could use the guy whose already playing rorschach. isnt he derived from ? anyways

yep. Rorschach was inspired by The Question..in look mainly but the paranoia crept into his personality too. That would be a problem if this was to ever be a movie..i reckon people would assume that Question was a rorschach ripoff and not the reverse!

Hey Roar! Thanks for the shout out, greatly appreaciated :))

I think "The Question" would fit in incredibly nicely in Nolan's world especially IF Riddler's the main villain! That would be so appropriate. But on the other hand, If Batman himself can't outwit Nigma without the help of Question, it would take a lot from his character. I don't know, i would love for those two to mingle but it would go against Batman's philosophy of being a loner. Even Robin was never made aware of all the details which always was a great source of friction. It would be "iffy" but still a good show!

Hey didn't "The Question" end up to actually be Madonna in Dicc Tracy??? Kidding LOL :P

well your actually right! that character (in the [wiener] tracy comic ) was the inspiration for the questions look.

i see them as enemies at first, or at least rivals..and even though its a cliche id have them team up in the end! im sure nolan could pull off the story so it doesnt seem obvious

You know Rorshach, that's not a bad idea. Why not put in a character like him? Perfect idea! Maybe Nolan would consider this if you showed it to him somehow? Idk...but I'm sure he'd go for it cuz it's not a bad idea at all. It's a different take again, completely new so maybe Batman 3 wouldn't be so bad (considering it's another sequels and 2nd sequels usually suck).

And even though I've addressed this issue many times in the past, I still think they should add a new villain to the cast. Even if it's just The Riddler and someone new...I would just like a new villain to go with Batman 3 if it ever comes out.

thanks crappybumbum (wer did u come up with that name anyway? lol). yeah i really think it could work. the problem is nolan would never go for anything like that. he wants his Batman to exist outside the rest of the DC universe. i personally think thats both arrogant and foolish. no matter how many comic book fans liked his movies (and lets face it we all did) he will alienate quite a few with that line of thinking i reckon

He'll just end up not making it. DC will wake up eventually when they hear of how good yet another Marvel movie does at the big screen that has more than one "character" in it! Yes of course i'm talking about Wolverine! When that movie rakes in the dough, DC will start putting pressure on Nolan and Goyer and Nolan will probably say "screw you" and then DC will go with someone else. Nature taking it's course.
