The Nolan Legacy Has Not Ended Just Yet

With "The Dark Knight" Trilogy over, Christopher Nolan (Director) wants to move onto his own projects, but not before he gives us Man Of Steel.

Okay, we all know Christopher Nolan has done other hit movies (Inception). But let's be honest, he will always be the man who made Batman The Dark Knight. After the last Batman film was released, Nolan was quoted as saying "I am done with Batman movies and I am hoping to start working on my own projects".

But before he could start working, he saw that Man Of Steel was being made and he couldn't help himself and decided to produce it.

Not many people know what a producer does. Well, to produce a film means you gave a large amount of your money to the production team for your ideas to be registered, you sign into a contract stating you will get all your money back plus some profit. So Nolan wrote a few checks and now his master mind combined with Snyder's (Director) Artistic flair too his projects will create a brilliant Superman.

"Not many people know what a producer does."

No offense dude, but I don't think even most producers know what they do. Plus Chris Nolan has said himself he has been completely hands off the production. The only thing he had input in was the story. Everything else is Zach Snyders to control.

Also, in the future, take a little more time with your articles. If you want to make a "What Does a Producer Do?" article, how about you cite other movies and other producers. Give us interviews from producers about how much say they have had in big blockbusters. Really do some research as to what a producer does on a day to day basis. Don't just write a comment. That's just lazy.

Poor people don't find the time to write pointless articles promoting Man of Steel... and if they do, there's something wrong with their priorities.

(I know you didn't mean "poor")

Quality standards butcher this poor guy.

@RFBD- Technically since MOS is obviously a Nolan production, it is still technically his film. It's Nolan's vision realized (brought to life) by Snyder.

It's still a Nolan film. :)

I find it laughable people STILL think MOS is Snyder's film. He wouldn't even HAVE the gig were it not for Nolan choosing him LOL.

And Snyder is working off of Nolan and Goyer's story.

Nolan is the godfather of this film. Another thing people don't realize is it's also NOLAN's reputation that is on the line with this movie, not just Snyder's. If this film fails, i don't see WB trusting Nolan to ever produce and "godfather" another of their films again

Hey SaintSpidey shut up with that "nolanite" crap. I should be allowed to discuss my [frick]ing views on this god damn movie without being called names. I've been around here much longer than you, so show some damn respect

Nolan chose the story, Nolan chose Snyder, Nolan "got the ball rolling" were it not for Nolan, this particular Superman film wouldnt be happening.

It is Nolan's film

@LP4

I am not taking sides on this matter but here is how it happened (according to interviews):

Goyer came up with an idea for a Superman movie.
Nolan liked it.
Nolan and Goyer tossed around ideas.
Goyer wrote the screenplay based off their ideas.
Nolan got WB to say yes and became producer.

If we want to be honest here, this is Goyer's movie. He was the one with the original idea for it.

@GothamsKnight- Hey that's fine, it aint like your comment was defending SaintSpidey's argument either. It only strengthens my point that THIS IS NOT A SNYDER FILM.

And hey you proved all my points- Nolan APPROVED the script by liking it and taking it to WB. Nolan BECAME THE PRODUCER and HE HAND-PICKED SNYDER.

Oh and what you said about Goyer creating the screenplay based on the ideas that he AND Nolan bounced back and forth. That shows that Nolan did have some input on the overall screenplay.

This isn't a Snyder film people.

All Snyder is doing is taking Nolan/Goyer's vision (a vision that was created BY them bouncing around their ideas to each other) and all Snyder is doing is bringing it to life with his visuals. That's it. Snyder didn't create the screenplay, Snyder didn't produce it obviously, Snyder didn't get the 'ok' from WB and all he's doing it making it into a movie with flashy visuals.

At the most, the only thing Snyder really contributed was the casting of the roles. That's it.

If one more person calls this a "Snyder film" I'm going to [frick]ing freak out on them

@LP4

While I do say that people understate Nolan's role in the development of the film usually, you're overstating the importance of a producer and understating the importance of the director. The director calls almost all the creative decisions, is able to edit (at least parts of) the story, casting, getting the crew together, finding locations, directing the effects and much more. Not saying Nolan didn't have an important role, he did, but this is not his movie. It's Goyer's idea that Snyder is making that Nolan had a small amount of input on the script and convinced the studio to agree to.

@GothamsKnight- Ok, but this is still part of Nolan's series. It had him listed on the god damn trailer at comicon and it even listed his bat-films.

Anyway, small amount of input...i don't know about that. It was Nolan who got WB to get the ball rolling on this project. Nolan PICKED Snyder. Snyder wouldn't be the director were it not for Nolan.

I think you're the one understating what Nolan has done for this project. And I still think "Nolanites" wherever they are- still have this film to gloat about since "Marvelites" are the ones who keep bullying them about Nolan's bat-series ending
LP4
LP4 - 9/17/2012, 6:28 PM
And those who make fun of "Nolanites" well I think GothamsKnight can at least admit there is SOME "Nolanite" influence on this Superman film. This film seems to be playing the same way and fashion as Batman Begins.

@Thorgi- Insulting me for defending Nolan then saying you loved his movies. That makes you a hypocrite my friend.

^_^

And your insults are very juvenile. You're what...15 years old?

Trust me- no "cock-sucking" from anyone here. I simply stated FACTS that back up why I feel Nolan deserves more credit for MOS then people give him credit for.

This is how I think it would go down for ppl on this site.

If MOS triumphs as a CBM: "Snyder is a genius! Praise him! Ehm, good job there Chris"

If MOS fails: "Chris Nolan [frick]ed this film up! I don't even blame Snyder as much, Nolan was in charge he should have taken care of it!"
