UPDATE: First Images Of The Cast Of Batman Live Finally Revealed!

You thought that the costumes in Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin looked cheesy? Well, the following pictures of Batman, Robin, The Joker, Catwoman, Poison Ivy and more, might just make you think otherwise...

Faithfully adapted from the DC Comics characters and stories, BATMAN LIVE focuses on Robin's quest for justice, which leads him to follow in the footsteps of his hero, the mysterious vigilante known as the Batman - much to the dismay of his protective guardian, millionaire Bruce Wayne - who secretly happens to be Batman.

A dazzling celebration of storytelling and stagecraft, BATMAN LIVE is at its heart an affecting coming of age story. Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson - both orphaned at an early age - must first learn to overcome their own fears and forge their own family - along with Police Commissioner James Gordon and Bruce's trusted butler, Alfred Pennyworth - if they're going to survive the combined forces of Batman's larger-than-life rogues gallery: The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, The Riddler, Two-Face, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.

UPDATE: Here's a slightly clearer look at the villains.

What do you guys think of the above costumes? Are they well suited to the stage, or has the gritty realism seen in Christopher Nolan's movies reminded you of just how ridiculous they look when adapted almost exactly from the comic books? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

The Bat suit is OK but Robin's skirt is horrible imo.
Joker's cool too (he looks like the Arkham Asylum Joker).

At least it's pretty nice to see all the characters
all together up there in superhero looking costumes!
More than the latest movies can say.

It just bewilders me to no end. You can find Batman and Robin costumes that look identical to the ones seen in the comics at almost any con you go to, done by fans who typically don't have a large budget for their costumes, but do have a great love for the characters. For the record, I mean both the classic Grayson Robin and the modern Drake costume. Yet somehow, these costume departments for movies or Broadway, who have both the financial and material resources to do the same thing, maybe even better since these are trained professionals, churn out these hideously ugly monstrosities that would be more at home in gay porn than in a superhero film or play. That Robin is without a doubt the worst Robin... ever. Any con geek with $30 or so could do a better job hitting the craft department at Wal-Mart. Batman is only slightly better than the "bat-nipples" Batman from Batman and Robin.

Shame of this is that the villains' costumes don't look bad (especially like that Catwoman- nice interpretation of her modern costume).

Catwoman and Ivy look cute.
Does anybody else think Bats looks a little Adam Westy around the chin?

The Batsuit itself has some cool elements, I dig the plating.

Robin looks ghey, Harley looks awful too.
Joker looks ok.

Remember, this is an arena show primarily aimed at families, so despite all the [female dog]ing fanboys will do, I reckon it will probably do quite well.

Comparisons to Spiderman: TOTD are invalid, this is a totally different format... Think of it as a Batman themed circus.

I wonder if Bats knees can bend? It looks like he'll have to walk in that position the whole show.

Well i think they did an okay job. Sure it's a little too heavily armored looking (Both bats and robin look like they could take missles to the chest) but other than that they did a decent job. They're going for the look of the comic not gritty realism. Yes Batman is supposed to be dark, but would that work that well for a broadway level play? I don't think so. This looks decent. I think the fact that they went with a version of Damian' costume i wrong, and they shoulda went something closer to "Young justice" Robin.

Robin's is the worst - it looks so plastic and solid. Batman's is okay... But to say that these are "adapted almost exactly from the comic books" is completely wrong. There's nothing about these that resembles the comic costumes. If someone would actually make costumes like the comics, that would be awesome!

The bad guys look pretty cool. The whole thing looks to be designed for a family audience, which is fine. I'd go see it.
Chewtoy

WTF did they do to Harley? I could at least give them credit for trying to be faithful on the rest of the bunch, but then they just go completely random with Harley Quinn? Hell, Akrham City did a far better job of designing a non-traditional Harley look.

I don't mind the costumes...as it states in the promo faithfully adapted from the comic books...the thing that make me all right with it is the fact that unlike the movies where there are several takes and several angles to make a shot look great these actors will have to in one take...the acrobatics and such for the action make the costuming a bit different in order to work in LIVE work such as the stage...I would still go see this if it came to my neck of the woods...I hope it does well and as ZeroEthic stated DC usually nails its characters in other media since the debacle that was Batman & Robin...

@Chewtoy I would have to agree with you on the Harley Quinn garb...the only thing not faithful in the cast pic...hopefully that will get changed before the first night on stage...

I hate musicals so much. Make me have a third-person-shame feeling for those poor souls singing and dancing and trying to play a role.

I want to die when I have to go (yes, I'm married) to one of those, the story's goin' fine and suddenly the characters start dancing with those people on the street, who a second before weren't even aware of the main character.

Sorry, had to expose that.
