David Goyer Talks Balancing The Characters In BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN

The writer doesn't give anything away plot wise, but when quizzed about how he went about giving so many huge characters their fair share of the screen-time in the Man Of Steel sequel script, he opens up a little about his creative process.

Take a little break from all of the Marvel news for this little Batman VS. Superman nugget! Ever since it was announced that Wonder Woman -- and possibly even more DC superheroes -- would be joining Supes and Bats in Zack Snyder's sequel to Man Of Steel, fans have been worried that the movie would be too jam-packed to do every character justice (no pun intended). So while taking to one of the film's writers, David S. Goyer, about some of his other upcoming projects, Collider asked him how hard it is to make sure all of these huge, iconic heroes get their dues on screen.

"I always try my best to honor every character. When you’re dealing with big iconic characters, there’s a lot of fan pressure to get it right, and I respect that and admire that passion enormously. At the same time, you can’t let your creative process be too crowded by that or distracted by it. It’s not always one uniform opinion of how you should portray this character or that character. I think I’ve done a pretty good job of walking that razor’s edge. You just have to do your best and know what’s out there, but at the same time, follow your own muse."

Now keep in mind that Argo screenwriter Chris Terrio was brought in to work on the script too, and many think he could well have done a complete rewrite. Whatever the case may be let's hope these characters all get to make a significant impact when they share the screen in 2016.

I hope Terrio did a MAJOR rewrite. Goyer scares me when he doesn't have a good director keeping him on his chain.

Y'know what? Just make Affleck a producer, then I'll be okay. Terrio was a step in the right direction. Johns was another step in the right direction but I need something to give me hope.

Goyer is the best NEWS BvS so far. That Argo writers took his placed and Goyer wont be on control of the writing.

Nice graphic!

For DC fans, nothing but famine on the big screen for another 2 plus years. :-(

For Marvel fans, nothing but feasting now and into the foreseeable future.

Man I remember being one of maybe 5 people who supported Affleck when the news broke, I didn't realize some people were still stuck in 2003.I was literally smiling when I read that he was cast. Affleck has pretty much single-handedly saved this movie.
