Jena Malone Talks HUNGER GAMES; Still Playing Coy About BATMAN V SUPERMAN
Jena Malone literally only appeared in one brief shot in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, but she promises we'll see more of her in the final instalment. Plus, she's quizzed once again about her rumoured involvement in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
Fans of Jena Malone's complex Hunger Games character Johanna Mason must have been disappointed when she only popped up very briefly towards the very end of last year's Mockingjay - Part 1, but while talking to Moviefone the Sucker Punch actress says she will have a much bigger role in the upcoming final movie. "There's a lot more for all of the characters. It's the final chapter, so it's going to be crazy." The site also ask her about her rumoured role in Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. She won't reveal anything of course, but does get into a bit of a debate about strong female characters in comic book/blockbuster type films.
There have been rumors that you are in talks to join another sizable franchise for a director you've worked with before, as part of Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." Can you say anything?
Ummmm... no.
Would you say, hypothetically, that you would be excited to contribute a strong female role model to a genre that is somewhat bereft of them?
I don't think that it's bereft. I mean look at "Hunger Games" -- are you kidding me?
Yeah, but "The Hunger Games" isn't a comic book.
It doesn't matter. You're turning something into a film, you're creating a myth. What is a comic book but a written myth? I feel like there's so much negativity, but we create. We're still making things. It's not about having as much as they have, it's about continuing the conversation.
The trades do seem to think Malone is playing someone in the movie, they just don't know who. The prevailing rumour is that she's going to be a female Robin, but when asked about that her response was even more vague than the one above. These days actors are only too happy to quash casting rumours when they get the chance though, so can we take her refusal to comment to mean that there might be something to all of this? Only time will tell. More at the link below.
