Michael Shannon Seemingly Confirms 'Doomsday' WILL Appear In BATMAN v SUPERMAN

A flustered Michael Shannon has attempted to talk his way out of those recent comments which seemed to indicate that he'll be taking on some sort of motion capture role in Batman v Superman, but in the process, it seems like he's confirmed that Doomsday WILL show up!

Earlier this month, Michael Shannon told a funny story about getting trapped in a toilet on the set of Batman v Superman because he had "flippers" over his hands. This obviously led to speculation that he must be taking on a motion capture role as Doomsday (as has been rumoured), but the actor is now doing some pretty unconvincing damage control! "I wasn’t there," he claims in an interview with The Daily Beast. "It’s a really awkward situation—I’m in the trailer for a movie that I didn’t work on." Shannon still hasn't seen the trailer, so obviously isn't aware of the fact we've all seen him in the movie; he must have been on set to shoot those scenes as a corpse after all.

Instead, the actor has come up with a ludicrous claim (likely fed to him by the studio) that he does appear, but as a...ghost?! "The thing about the whole Krypton universe, apparently, is that even when you destroy them, there are ghosts. The first [film], Jor-El is there even though he’s been dead for lord knows how long. I went over and did some voice-over stuff because it’s like that ghost thing. But I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that. I get very nervous." None of this sounds even remotely convincing, and it becomes even harder to believe when the actor attempts to explain away that story about the flippers. "Somebody was asking me about this in New York and I made up some ridiculous bullshit answer about how my character Zod has flippers, and this went viral on the Internet or something and people have been asking me about that. That is so obviously a complete bullshit story, right? But people took it seriously."

Yeah, right. Anyway, here's where things get really interesting...the actor goes on to specifically mention Doomsday. It's said in a jokey way, but in doing so, has Shannon confirmed that's the role he's taking on? It's hard to say for sure, but he does appear to be getting mixed up between Zod and Doomsday during this interview, so I'd say it's certainly possible. "Maybe they should add it, I don’t know! Maybe in Part 3, Doomsday will have flipper hands. I mean, look—nothing would make me happier than to work with Zack [Snyder] again, he’s hysterical and he’s a lot of fun to work with." Considering WB's history with taking out potential whistleblowers, I'd say Shannon's time is up!

I really hope there's no Doomsday in this. Otherwise - poor Clark!

On his first day he has to kill Zod with his bare hands, and after that he's being played by Lex Zuckerberg, gets molested by a TDKR-ish Batman and has to fight Doomsday?

I think most people guessed Doomsday would be in this.

I would like to have some surprises left in this movie... but I guess in this day and age you get to know everything about a film that is like 9 months away...

Does Shannon think this is some kind of joke?!

Actually, he sounds like he thinks that this whole thing is stupid.
Flippers, why not.

But how cool would it be to see the death of Superman in Batman v. Superman and the rise of the four replacement Supermen/ return of the real Superman in Man of Steel 2?

Speculating and reading about rumors is fun but sometimes I just wish all movies were made in secret and one day you'd see a random add on TV saying, "BvS, this weekend!" and then be all like "cool, Imma go watch that."

This seems pathetic, no matter how nervous you are...

I reckon its a marketing thing by WB. All this stuff goes viral, its publicity, and it gets people talking about BvS

Hopefully, that means Marvel can now hire acclaimed directors.

I hope WB isn't trying to do too much in this film. Unlike them doing the marvel way of setting up there cinematic universe, wb is literally trying to set up an entire universe including the justice league in one movie. There swinging for the fences I'll give them that. I'm excited and can't wait for this movie.

He's not playing Doomsday. At least not Doomsday as he was envisioned. Maybe he plays some powerful creature that Batman and Superman have to team up to beat at the end of BvS but that's not Doomsday. It lacks all the importance of the Doomsday character and storyline. No matter if that's what they call him or not.
