The ONLY reason peeps on this site are 'rooting" so hard for 'Gone girl' is because Ben Affleck's in it and those who want BVS to be critically acclaimed are in that camp.

In ALL my years on this site, I've heard NOTHING consistently about how Andrew Garfield, Jesse Eisenberg, Rooney Mara, Rashida Jones and MANY OTHERS who MADE THEIR BONES in 'THE SOCIAL NETWORK' BEFORE they became CBM household names EVER be bantied back and forth as if they were even CONSIDERED to be DC or MARVEL icons in the making.

How dare you, sir! I was in love with The Social Network from the minute it came out - one of my favourite films ever, in fact. I loved the cast, the direction, cinematography, script ([frick], the script!) and score. I vocally supported Andrew Garfield as Spidey on other sites well before TASM came out, because of his great performance in TSN, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor when that was announced. I knew their names before being considered for CBM's.

And as for Fincher's next, I've been stoked to see Gone Girl because of a number of factors: David Fincher directing, another score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, it's an adaption of an acclaimed book, and then the fact that it has an amazing cast (Affleck, Rosamund Pike, NPH!). So no, I'm not rooting for GG just because of Affleck.

Get off your high horse, dude.

@staypuffed

If you're one of the ones who doesn't fit my description, why answer???

I don't need someone to give me a description of the soundtrack and a WIKI on Fincher to PROVE they weren't one of the POSERS I was describing.

Don't "DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH" else you expose YOURSELF as one of the PHONIES I was calling out. Get it?

THAT being said, good for you, Batman avatar...but You know as well as I do that these people exist and they should be called out, right??

@Peter I'm glad he answered you. I'm on the same page as StayPuffed. Those comments are ridiculous, just because a site has an specific movie topic, it does not mean, All of us are ignorant morons when it comes to cinema. Please.

"The ONLY reason peeps on this site are 'rooting" so hard for 'Gone girl'"

Sounded a lot like you were saying everybody (you said ONLY) on CBM that's looking forward to GG is excited for Affleck only.

What you're saying is like people who hate others for finding a great song on a movie soundtrack.

Let's take Guardians of the Galaxy, for example. That movie has awesome music. Say somebody hears 'Moonage Daydream' by David Bowie for the very first time in the theatre, then goes and listens to it again on YouTube. They excitedly tell people they're listening to this because of a film they saw, but then people beat them to death in the comments. "SHUT UP!!!! WE DON'T CARE WHY YOU'RE HERE!!", or "PEOPLE WHO ARE ONLY HERE BECAUSE OF GOTG ARE POSERS AND NOT FANS OF 'REAL' MUSIC!!"

My point is - what the hell does it matter why they like and support something?

If somebody wants BvS to successful and want Ben Affleck to be even more respected, then why shouldn't they root for his new film to be a hit? Everybody listens to a song for the first time - what does it matter whether it was on a record player 30 years ago, or in a movie theatre in August 2014?

Phew, that was a dethpillow-level comment there XD

I agree that this film will be a game changer and it has a terrific cast. But your comments on Gone Girl?
You're pathetic, dude. Get off your pedestal before you trip on your face. I'm sure that many want to see what Affleck can bring on a serious role instead of always being acclaimed for his directing so many people are intrigued naturally by that. There's nothing wrong with that like you seem to put it. There's also a huge audience who is interested in the film because they are film fans that love good movies....not to mention some guy named David Fincher is also directoring the movie ;)
