With filming about to get underway, Deadline is reporting that Tony Award-nominated actor James Cusati-Moyer (Prodigal Son; Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) has joined the cast of Warner Bros. and New Line's upcoming DC superhero adventure, Black Adam.
The film will star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson (Hobbs & Shaw; Jungle Cruise; Red Notice) in the lead role, making his superhero movie debut as the titular antihero, and will also introduce the Justice Society of America in key supporting roles.
Further details on Cusati-Moyer's role are currently being kept under wraps, so it's uncertain whether he'll end up standing with Teth-Adam (Johnson) or land on the opposing side.
Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise; Non-Stop; The Commuter) is directing with a screenplay from Rory Haines (Informer; The Mauritanian) and Sohrab Noshirvani (Informer; The Mauritanian). Adam Sztykiel (Rampage; Due Date; Scoob!) wrote the film's first draft.
In addition to Johnson, the cast will feature Noah Centineo (Charlie's Angels; Masters of the Universe; To All the Boys I've Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton; The Invisible Man; Jack Reacher: Never Go Back) as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell (Euphoria; Trinkets; In Treatment) as Cyclone, Sarah Shahi (Alias; Old School; Bullet to the Head) as an unnamed university professor, Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin; The Old Guard; The Mummy) in an undisclosed villain role, and 2x Golden Globe-nominee Pierce Brosnan (Tomorrow Never Dies; The World Is Not Enough; Die Another Day) as Doctor Fate.
Black Adam will arrive in theaters on July 29, 2022.
