BLACK PANTHER: How Many Movies Has Chadwick Boseman Signed On For With Marvel?

Marvel are famous for getting actors to agree to lengthy nine-picture deals, but how many has 42 star Chadwick Boseman been roped into as their Black Panther? Well, Deadline have the scoop on that and you can find the details right here. Hit the jump to check it out!

Marvel Studios shocked everyone today when they revealed that Chadwick Boseman will bring the Black Panther to the big screen first in Captain America: Civil War and then his own solo movie. The 42 star had been mentioned as being in the running by Latino-Review, but like Ezra Miller being cast as The Flash, the official announcement came pretty much out of nowhere! Deadline have now weiged in on the casting and already have the exclusive on Boseman's role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "I hear he’s signed a lucrative five-film deal that begins with 2016’s Captain America: Civil War continues through Marvel’s just-unveiled Phase 3 line-up." A five picture deal obviously means we'll be seeing a lot of the Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe then, and it would be very surprising if he doesn't make an appearance in a future Avengers movie and obviously a sequel to his own 2017 solo outing. That's not all they have details on though.

When Kevin Feige was asked whether Marvel will be targeting an African American director for Black Panther and a female helmer for Captain Marvel, he replied: "We’re looking for the best directors possible," but did acknowledge that producer/director Reginald Hudlin is one filmmaker with Marvel ties (he wrote Black Panther for a time, retelling his origin and marrying him off to Storm). "Reggie I’ve known for many years and is a great guy – I think I’m meeting him again shortly." Who do you guys think is the right choice to helm these movies?

Cap 3
Black Panther trilogy
One avengers film

hmm... thought it would have been alot longer than that. I wonder if this is an indication that after Avengers 4 it is all done. In my mind I saw around 10 Avengers film with rotating cast members.

Then again Downey will have left by then and Ironman is the one they would reboot the MCU around

@MrCBM56 It will be two films on the contract.

Curious if this news means we get Thanos sidekicks like Ebony Maw, as a satisfying ending to the first part of the Avengers film while realizing the threat is till out there.

Cap:Civil war, Black Panther, Avengers IE P1&2 count as one film imo, BP2 and BP3. I feel like Boseman has franchise carrying ability and BP should have a trilogy he's. Popular character

@Rhinoman I think a new contract will be made by then for future films, it seems after there big multi picture deal they just do 1 or 2 after that so I wouldn't worry.

Avengers: Infinity War Part I&II will likely count as one film, so that, Black Panther and Civil War is three...

It's likely the other two could just be two more Black Panther films for later though Feige said T'Challa and Wakanda will be very important moving forward, so maybe he'll have another surprise reveal. Or they just see him as a major character they shift focus to.

Most of the main casts' contracts will be up after Avengers:IW, but Marvel seems like they'll be looking more into the cosmic side with Guardians, Inhumans and Captain Marvel, as well as possibly more, along with newer franchises like Doctor Strange and Black Panther. If successful, these films could be the basis for a film slate to cover several years until they recast Iron Man and the others way down the line.
