Chadwick Boseman Talks BLACK PANTHER Research And Current "Brainstorming Phase"

The news that Black Panther will finally get his own movie was exciting enough last year, but the fact that we'll get to see Chadwick Boseman even sooner than that in Captain America: Civil War is even better! Hit the jump for his comments on how his take on T'Challa is coming together...

Chadwick Boseman will first bring Black Panther to life on the big screen in Captain America: Civil War next year. Whether that will be just as T'Challa or suited up and ready for action remains to be seen, but he's one of the most exciting parts of the threequel, that's for sure. Talking to Comic Book Resources recently, the actor had this to say about what he's currently doing to prepare himself for taking on this iconic Marvel Comics role. "I think right now, it's just going through the possibilities of what he can do," Boseman teased when asked for specifics. "It's a brainstorming phase, trying to figure out what it looks like -- I'm going to be as vague as I can! -- what it looks like and what it should feel like in certain moments. But just going through [the material], because there's always a difference from one story to the next of who he is -- trying to find a way to merge those things together. Because I think that's always fun when these movies work: it's when people see several things satisfied at one time. And I think that's been the fun part so far."

He's clearly looking at different interpretations of Black Panther in the comic books then, and the site followed up by asking the actor if there's anything in particular in them which he's responded to in a more enthusiastic way than others. "Yeah. Really, all of it. It's just difficult with this particular character, because there are a lot of things in that time when it was written that did not exist but do exist now, so trying to figure out how would that work now. How is it special now in terms of technology and whatever -- but that's all I can say!" It sounds like T'Challa and Wakanda will be getting an update then. What do you guys think of these comments?

Honestly the movie should start off in Wakanda and Man-Ape comes in and challenges T'Chaka for the throne (referencing something like how the ancient kings physically fought for the crown, and how the alpha male would win) but T'Chaka refuses because he's a pacifist and believes in peace. Later, T'Challa talks to him and reveals that Man-Ape has been trying to take over for quite some time. Then, Klaw (who should lose his hand in AOU and be severely injured due to the actions of Black Panther), should attack with his claw-sonic-gun-thing and vibranium upgrades so he looks like his comic counter-part. He attacks T'Challa as revenge and they fight, but Klaw escapes. T'Challa feels it's his duty to go after Klaw and defeat him. T'Chaka disapproves but he goes anyway. Then we get our classic hero vs. villain fight that's customary in all cbm's, but when BP defeats Klaw, there's still like half an hour left of movie. When the audience is going "Whaaa?", T'Challa returns to Wakanda to find that in his absence, Man-Ape killed T'Chaka and claimed the throne. T'Challa eludes Man-Ape's corrupt guards, goes into a mourning phase, buries his father, and decides what he must do. He gains a more tribal, animal-influenced Black Panther suit, and heads back to the palace. He challenges Man-Ape, who is amused that T'Challa would do something his father disapproved of, and agrees to fight. Then, we get the most epic fight of all time full of rage, animalistic violence and crazy stunts and fight choreography. Finally, T'Challa defeats Man-Ape and claims his throne, growing as a man and becoming worthy of his place as king......but idk I came up with that in like 5 minutes.... Also I'm new here, but I've been reading the site for awhile now....Hi.

Homeboy's a vampire. In 30 years when everyone starts to look considerably Chadwick will be starring in a movie with Angelina Jolie's grandkid looking like he just got off the set of 42.
