RUMOR: BLACK PANTHER To Start Shooting Next Year

Latino-Review scooper Elmayimbe is at it again, this time claiming to have in his possession a grid that reveals Marvel Studios' plans to shoot Black Panther next year. While it's not confirmed as of yet, hit the jump for further details!

Well, this is interesting! With Marvel's first "Phase 3" movie (Ant-Man) set to start shooting next year, it shouldn't really come as too much of a surprise to learn that the studio are already planning more than just that and The Avengers 2 for 2015 and beyond. According to Latino-Review's @elmayimbe, the plan is to also shoot Black Panther in 2014 (more than likely for a 2016 release, although THAT is just speculation on our end at this point). The site also recently reported that 42 star Chadwick Boseman is front runner for the role. For now, file this under "Rumor", but it does sound as if more details will soon follow. If this is indeed the case, a cameo in Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble sequel also seems highly likely. What do you guys think?

Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Black Panther? If true, this is just too much.

I find elmayimbe's personality a little annoying but he's right more than he's wrong.

I haven't seen Stat Trek Into Darkness yet but didn't people confirm that his scoop was true?

It's funny to know that his detractors talk so much s*** but never take it back when he's proven right.

Elmayimbe has been right more often than wrong.

Man, I surely wish this is true.

If so, bring on Chadwick Boseman or Aldís Hodge for Black Panther.

No, LR is right more often than it's wrong.

Ooh, didn't you just love Tobey MacGuire as Bilbo Baggins?

And how cool is it that the Skrulls were in Avengers as THEY [frick]ING KNEW, but nobody believed it?

And isn't it AWESOME how Ant-Man started shooting in January?

And don't it just tickle you how Jason Momoa is all up in that Guardians of the Galaxy cast as Drax?

Oooh, and let's not forget how amazing it's going to be when Enchantress and Executioner are the main baddies in Thor 2!

Hasn't Elmayimbe been wrong on every Black Panther rumor thus far? Remember early last year when he announced Black Panther was the surprise flick Marvel would be revealing at Comic Con? And then it turned out to be GotG. I was never more disappointed because I've been waiting for BP for 15 years. He was way off! Honestly, he hasn't been terribly reliable recently.

That's the thing though... Black Panther IS on the "most-likely to get a film" list. And these guys know it. So of course they're going to rumor the shit out of an obvious thing, just so they can say "see! we knew all along!"

It's the [frick]ing psychic parlor trick, but used to make news.

(Same thing with their Justice League "scoop" that the film would focus on Supes, Bats, Flash, WW, and GL. Like, [frick]ing duh. But they're going to take credit when it happens anyways.)

My gawd people. Why do you still listen to the sh!t Latino review pumps out. They have 0 credibility. Remember when Guardians of the Galaxy was supposed to be Black Panther?
StarkAnthony
StarkAnthony - 5/10/2013, 11:19 AM
I think that if such a movie is happening, they would film it in 2015 if they want it to come out in 2016. That is how they have done all their movies so far.

well said. thats the problem with these type of sites like Latino Review.

elmayimbe has been right most of the time guys so yeah. Give him credit. I'd say he's been victim of Marvel discrediting.

Remember Thanos was in the credits, the Banner scene was right, Momoa was running for Drax, but Bautista ended up getting it etc. Do I have to go on?
KalebAmos
KalebAmos - 5/10/2013, 11:21 AM
While I believe this is true, I don't believe El Mayimbe has crap on it. He probably just pulled today's random reporting idea out of a hat and it just HAPPENS to correlate with Marvel's plans. Kind of a no brainer that Black Panther would be coming soon, anyway. It's their way of getting out of the U.S. for a more exotic locale and introducing new characters. I'll bet that we'll see Black Panther and Doctor Strange bookend summer of '13.
Curmudgeon
Curmudgeon - 5/10/2013, 11:21 AM
That all said: I do actually trust these guys with some scoops.

Usually the less important the news, the more likely it is that they're right. Shooting locations, 10-second cameos, etc.
